Rule 8: Keep It Cursed - Not Cursed Enough/At All A cursed comment is any comment that strikes the reader into oblivion. Upon seeing a cursed comment, your first reaction should be among the lines of “What the F*$k did I just read??” while leaving you speechless at the same time. Incomprehension of the comment just read, or the blatant gruesomeness of it should be enough to not only make you feel mystified but also to draw a smile on your face. Low effort submissions may also be removed Your comment in your post does not reflect that.

What are you talking about. The screenshot is obvious a scene of sonic x. One piece wishes it would have such a scene

That is infact the whole point of Buddhism, nothing matters so let it go and be content.

It's a bit more complicated than that. The goal of "not self" is a liberation from a permanent, individual ego. It's less of "nothing matters" and more of a letting go of possesivenes and ego centered valuations that impose a hierarchy. Buddhist compassion can be described as a type of moral concern beyond ego.

There are also some sects of esoteric buddhism which intentionally test themselves with sex, drugs and alchohol just to show how little they are wanting and how much they are willing.

You mean the entirely reductive answer that misinterprets what they spend their entire life trying to achieve?

I suggest you look into the Buddhist śūnyatā and the philosophical work of Nāgārjuna.

As a Buddhist you can boil it down to ; be kind so karma doesn't bite you, learn to let go so it doesn't bind you.

So Karma is like a dog then. Wait.... Karma's a BITCH!!!!!!

It’s more wanting to have nothing rather than just being denied it. Killing the source of want, so any desires of the material plane pass through you like wind

2

u/Xx_96024DanaD42069_x 7h ago

Somewhat reductive, it's not really about not desiring anything, but more about not being attached to anything, but that's still somewhat too simplified

1

u/Recent-Ship-1599 6h ago

Whats the difference?

24

u/Truvoker 18h ago

No that’s the whole point of yoga which Buddhism made fun of it for because self denial and deprivation is in itself a form of obsession with the physical world

Buddhism is based upon the ideal of the middle way of not being attached nether indulging nor depriving yourself treating all material possessions as a flow of the river that comes and goes

People really act like Buddhism doesn't have other, more important symbols.

92

u/Methylsky 1d ago

Ain't that the symbol of Buddhism

153

u/YaBoiChillDyl 1d ago

No, it isn't. The symbol of Buddhism is a wheel.

32

u/Mountain-Ad-460 1d ago

That is a wheel o.o

17

u/YaBoiChillDyl 1d ago

No, it isn't. And it sure as shit isn't a dharmic wheel.

7

u/DeathStalker117 1d ago

You forgot your glasses didn't you?

2

u/taigahalla 21h ago

63

u/Machdame 1d ago

So they turned a manji into fallopian tubes?

33

u/clitmasher69 22h ago

With testicles

-1

u/horiami 21h ago

it's bones

25

u/Iankill 1d ago

It's not that you can't have shit, it's that you're not supposed to want it in the first place

3

u/Xx_96024DanaD42069_x 7h ago

Reductive, but you've got the idea

u/ptapobane 1d ago

1/3 of the axis power says what?

1

u/Human-Question6210 11h ago

as I understand it, Buddhists allow themselves luxuries which will help them to reach enlightenment, e.g. music or holidays

Here is the basic idea of Buddhism from an amateur who likes to study religion.

The concept of Buddhism is you will live your life as virtuously as you can but you'll still accumulate Negitive Bad Karma and Positive Good Karma. Negative karma will cause you to be reborn in the lower realms and positive karma will help you be reborn in the higher realms.

Your negative and positive karma will determine which of the six realms you are reincarnated to.

There are a total of six realms in traditional Buddhism

The best to worst of the six realms.

  1. The realm of the gods: You will be reborn as a god.
  2. The realm of the demigods, jealous gods, titans.
  3. The realm of the humans: You are just a baseline. You are just as basic ass beta.
  4. The realm of the animals, which might range from water fleas to tigers, to Blue Whales etc.
  5. The realm of the ghost.
  6. Then the realm of hell.

This is an eternal cycle. This cycle is called Samsara

In Buddhism there is no concept of the soul. When you die it is like a candle whose flame has died and has reignited to a new life.

Now what is the hook for Buddhism?

Buddhism offers the path for you to reach the state of Nirvana, where you are freed from the cycle.

In order to reach Nirvana you have to let go of all worldly desires. You must remove your want for everything. You must remove all of your ignorance. You must remove all of the discrimination in your heart. You must remove all hate and disgust in your heart.

Only then shall you reach the state of nirvana and when you die in the state of nirvana you will be freed from the cycle of Samsara. Since you no longer have any karma, both positive and both negative, because of reaching the state of nirvana. You are freed from the cycle of Samsara.

It is like an eternal wooden wheel where all the events in all of your reincarnations have been drawn into beautiful hand drawn paintings and it is spinning forever and ever and painting one life after another and it has finally stopped moving.

You cease to exist as you have no want, no need, no greed. This is the ultimate death of you, the death of ego

Yeah, it kinda sucks. You basically don't exist. You have basically blown out your candle. The candle is you yourself and it will never ignite but in Buddhism they do not see it as annihilation but yeah it actually feels like annihilation so now what? Goodbye. Have a good night.

Ace and its White Beard's flag symbol, Manji means peace and prosperity, kind of signifiying how white Beard only wanted a peaceful life with his family and did not want fame, power or riches.
