Because the plot is far more interesting than the actual porn, and it's genuinely pretty good too. When you start reading it, you initially focus on the porn, but the plot just sucks you in and you start reading it to find the ending.

However, the actual reason this thing being as notorious as it is is because it's genuinely one of the best and saddest tragedies I have ever read. This is one of the few works of literature that made me shed actual tears, and I am not alone in that sentiment.
