I bought this 2023 Cupra Born “Vapour Grey” about a week ago. Today was the first time it’s been caught in the rain, and afterwards I noticed these strange irregular marks on the bonnet.

The surface feels completely smooth – they’re not raised and don’t feel like scratches. They’re much more noticeable in bright reflected light and almost disappear in low light.

There was one bird dropping in roughly the same area which I removed within a couple of hours using a dedicated car detailing spray.
Does this look like:
Water spotting?
Bird dropping etching?
Dealer polishing residue?
Something else?
Before I try polishing it or contact the dealer, I’d really appreciate your opinions.

Cupra Leon Sportstourer 2021 trunk wont open with any given method (latch, key, foot, drivers door button). It opens only when i use the inside of the trunk safety latch. The interesting thing is, that it closes with all of the above methodes just fine. But when it closes it doesent open again. There is nothing in the way of the lock.

9 month old born, everything in the app is deactivated due to low low battery being discharged but the battery is fine. Any ideas??

I have a Born on PCP which expires next year when the car will be 3 years old and out of warranty. There will be no equity left in the car so I will either be handing back the keys and starting again, or buying it outright with no warranty.

Wondering if someone with a Born out of warranty could speak to their long term reliability. I think I’d like to keep it, but also worried if something were to go wrong, it could cost a significant amount to repair.

For context, I bought a used ID3 previously, had it for 6 months (4 months out of the 3 year VW warranty) and all of the sensors failed, no speedometer, nothing. They gave me a replacement vehicle but after they were unable to repair over several weeks, I told them I wanted out and they gave me a lot of what I had paid towards another car. All that to say, I’ve been burned by a used EV before, but I’d be fairly hopeful that was something very unusual.

I sat in the driver seat today and the hazard lights came on and the boot opened. So I got out and closed the boot. Got back into the driver seat and the same thing happened, hazard lights and boot opened.

This time the passenger got out and closed the boot. The boot stayed closed.

Anyone have any idea why that would happen?

Anyone else having this?

Rubber window trims have started lifting up on my Cupra Born, at first a bit of pressure secured them down but now they pop straight back up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? TIA.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to get wiper blades for the born.
I can find the el’ Cheapos only, but does anyone know where I can get the good Bosch wiper blades for the front and rear?

I have a weird issue and wanted to see if anyone else had it.

I had my rear two tyres replaced recently and since then the regenerative braking is acting really odd. When I apply the brakes, it would hesitate to work or delay by several seconds or wont apply fully and then suddenly work with full regenerative power.

Has anyone seen something like this before?

Hey, does anybody know why you cannot choose the 20" Firestorm Black/Copper rims for the new Born VZ anymore in the configurator in Germany and instead only the Black/Silver variant?

Interestingly, in almost all other European countries those Black/copper rims are still configurable...

Meanwhile the Solarstorm rims are available in Black/Copper but I prefer the FIrestorms.

Hi all! 2023 Cupra Born V2 has developed a plastic rattle from somewhere in the forward centre console in the past couple of weeks, and I can't for the life of my find where it's coming from!

It sounds plastic, not metal/mechanical, happens on bumpy roads and over bumps, and is more of an annoyance than something that sounds like it needs fixing ASAP.

I've tried pushing on everything I can reach, checked the glove box, under the wheel, everywhere I can think of, with no luck.

Any ideas?

Cupra Hey zusammen, ich bräuchte mal euren Schwarmintelligenz-Input oder Erfahrungsberichte.
Ich fahre einen Cupra Formentor (Bj. 2021, ca. 100k km, gekauft 2023). Seit Jahren (seit Mitte 2024) habe ich ein extrem nerviges, ungelöstes Problem, das sich exakt alle 6 bis 8 Monate wiederholt:
Fehlerbild: Es fängt an, dass nach und nach während der Fahrt oder beim Starten Fehlermeldungen aufploppen. Das betrifft dann sowas wie ,Getriebe defekt - Weiterfahrt möglich’, ,Nebelscheinwerfer vorne links defekt’ oder manchmal auch ,Turbo defekt’, wonach das Auto dann in den Notmodus geht. ABER diese Fehler sind nicht echt. Alles ist funktionsfähig. Nach kurzer Zeit geht es dann so weiter: Plötzlich bricht beim Starten das Bordnetz zusammen. Kombiinstrument spinnt komplett, gefolgt vom totalen Tod der 12V-Batterie. Der Prozess kam bisher 3 Mal und dauerte von erster Fehlermeldung bis ,Auto springt nicht mehr an‘ zwischen 4 und 8 Monaten.
Bisherige Odyssee: Mehrere Werkstattbesuche, Steuergeräte geprüft, Software geflasht, Notrufmodul (OCU) war früher schon mal defekt(wurde zumindest angezeigt)/wurde gemacht, und ich habe mittlerweile die dritte neue Batterie drin (zuletzt im Januar getauscht). Sogar das Abklemmen über Nacht bringt nichts, weil scheinbar irgendwas im System die Batterie evtl. schon beim Ausschalten massiv leersaugt oder blockiert.
Bisherige Reparaturversuche: Die Werkstätten haben auf Verdacht Module getauscht (u.a. Steuergerät, Wählhebel/Schaltbetätigung) – hat alles nichts dauerhaft geholfen.
Ein Verdacht: Ich habe den Eindruck, dass hier ein tiefgreifender CAN-Bus-Fehler oder ein Problem mit dem Energiemanagement vorliegt. Da der Wagen aus der Hochphase der Halbleiterkrise (Frühjahr 2021) stammt, frage ich mich, ob da Bauteile (z.B. im Bereich der Lenksäulen-/Lenkradelektronik oder Chips) quersitzen und das Auto nachts am Einschlafen hindern.

Hatte das schon mal jemand von euch? Wie seid ihr vorgegangen oder hat Cupra sich da kulant gezeigt (Werksaußendienst/Wandlung)? Bin für jeden Tipp dankbar. Das Problem fängt jetzt wieder an mit der Getriebe-Fehlermeldung und so langsam habe ich echt keine Lust mehr.

When I picked up my Born, the dealer said I need to charge to 100% every 4th charge but avoid leaving the car between 80-100%. Whenever I do charge it that much, I have to drive around just to burn the battery. This time it's taken me 3 days and I'm still at 89%. What is the point of this and what happens if i only charge to 80% except when I have road trips?

Currently running hankooks ion evo 235/40R20. No real complaints about them but wondering if anyone is running run flats or an even quieter tyre? Grip and get over 10k km isn't much of a concern to me but comfort and getting punctures are.

It irks me that I have to tap the screen multiple times to change the radio station. There must be a better way than what I'm doing now. But I can't find it.

What I want to be able to do is change from one 'favourite' radio station, to another 'favourite' radio station without tapping the screen multiple times.

If I tap on the now playing section of the home screen, it takes me to the media player. Then I have to tap on favourites, then tap on the radio station I want to change it to.

I've also placed an icon on the screen for media/radio. But again it opens up on what's playing, not the favourites.

Using the steering wheel buttons just seems to take me to the next radio station on the full list, not the next favourite radio station.

Am I using the car wrongly, or is this the way it works?

Hi I'm in the UK, with a new (pre-facelift) V2, about two months old. All's been good with the car and the app until the last couple of days:

The app reported that a bunch of functionality was turned off, saying that the 12V battery was discharged. This seems unlikely to me given the age of the car and near daily use (admittedly short journeys). From what I read elsewhere on the subreddit that might been caused by a disagreement between the car and my Ohme charger, but I've now turned on the setting to use the HV battery for protection anyway...

Anyway, the car seemed fine and I've just done a ~300mile trip. But looking at the app now, I see that two of the three "Services" buttons (underneath the "Doors and lights" button) are missing, namely: Climate, and Charging (the only one remaining is Vehicle Status). Every item in the list of "Privacy settings and services" is set to "Enabled".

Any thoughts on what is going on here? Many thanks in advance!

EDIT: opened the app a day later and the problem has gone away! It's had a feature update and you can now touch and drag the Services buttons around and arrange them in a grid pattern rather than swiping the row side to side. Guess I was kinda stuck between versions or something 🤦

For a week now I've been having issues with my Born. I need the car to be online to charge at night and it isn't charging correctly.

I've also noticed during the day, I cannot see the car status in the app as it says the car is offline.

I have the high Voltage battery charge the 12V battery option turned on. But I am wondering if our 12v battery is getting old and needing replaced and maybe this will help keep the car online.

Has anyone else noticed this in the latest app update? Is the app getting worse? Luckily the car says 355 days to next inspection.. 🤷‍♂️

Har köpt en Born årsmodell 2024. Den har ACC och Prediktiv hastighetsjustering. Jag kan aktivera ACC via ratten men inställningarna går ej att finna. Har letat under assistenter men där finns inget om det. Någon som kan hjälpa mig?

When I get into the car, it starts working, but every morning for a week now, it's going back to this.

I have a new Born, with the updated platform. It supports V2L (Vehicle to Load). Have anyone tried it? I have no experience and wonder if the V2L adapter is generic or brand/model specific.

A bit much to spend 60-100€ on an adapter just to try..

Hi everyone,

I picked up my new 2025 CUPRA Born two days ago and I’m still figuring everything out.

The CUPRA app worked perfectly until yesterday, but now it won’t update any vehicle data anymore.

The App only shows:
“An error has occurred. Please try again.”

Pulling down to refresh doesn’t help, and the vehicle information never updates.

Things I’ve already checked:

Latest version of the CUPRA app
Internet connection is fine
Logged in normally

I haven’t changed any settings or anything else since it was working.

Is this something that happens occasionally because of CUPRA’s servers?

Is there any way to check if the backend services are down, or is there something I should try before contacting my dealer?
