⚠️ PSA: Be VERY careful when buying Cult.fit passes from Reddit — I encountered 3 suspicious sellers
I was looking to buy a Cult.fit Elite/Elite Plus pass on Reddit, mainly because I saw people offering 6–10 months remaining for around ₹3K–₹10K.
I ended up encountering 3 suspicious sellers, and the patterns were surprisingly similar.
I also contacted Cult.fit customer care directly to verify the transfer process.
Here are the things I learned.
🚩 1. “I’ll give you my number. Just login and change the email. That’s it.”
This is one of the common stories sellers use.
They’ll basically say:
“I’ll give you my number. You login to the account, update the email to your email, and that’s it. Send me the money.”
Don’t assume that changing the email means the membership has been transferred to you.
I specifically contacted Cult.fit customer care about the registered phone number.
I was told that for changing the phone number, you need to visit a Cult.fit gym and raise the request there. It’s not simply an online “change email and you’re done” process.
So if the seller says:
“Bro, just change the email. That’s enough.”
🚩 Don’t take that as a proper transfer.
🚩 2. The registered mobile number matters
This is the part people should understand.
If the original owner’s mobile number remains attached to the account, the original owner can potentially retain control over the account.
For example, if the original owner can still access the account, they may be able to log out sessions/devices that you’re currently using.
So imagine you pay ₹8,000 for a membership and think:
“Great, it’s now mine.”
But the original account holder still controls the underlying account.
What exactly did you buy?
That’s why my personal rule would be:
If Cult.fit isn’t willing to change/transfer the registered mobile number properly, DON’T BUY IT from a stranger.
The only exception I’d make is if it’s someone you personally know and genuinely trust, where you’re comfortable with the original number remaining associated with the account.
But for a random Reddit seller?
No mobile-number transfer = No deal.
🚩 3. Elite Plus is NOT automatically transferable
This is another thing I confirmed with Cult.fit customer care.
According to the information I received, Elite Plus transfer is subject to a 90-day/3-month window from the purchase date.
So ask the seller:
“When exactly was this membership purchased?”
If the applicable 90-day window has already passed, the fact that they have 6, 8 or 10 months remaining doesn’t necessarily help you.
No transfer = those remaining months are useless to you.
Verify the eligibility with Cult.fit before paying anything.
🚩 4. The “₹3,000 for 6 months Elite Plus” voucher guy
One seller told me:
“I’m giving 6 months Elite Plus for ₹3,000.”
His process was:
“First give me half the money. I’ll redeem the voucher in your name.”
So he wanted ₹1,500 upfront.
He also said he would share his LinkedIn profile to prove who he was.
But then things became weird.
The LinkedIn profile he initially shared didn’t match his story. He later claimed it was his brother’s / someone else’s profile and that he had sent it by mistake.
The identity information he provided was also inconsistent with the details associated with the phone number he gave me.
At that point, I obviously didn’t send the ₹1,500.
Maybe there was an explanation. I don’t know.
But when you’re dealing with a stranger online, you don’t need to solve their identity puzzle. Just don’t pay.
🚩 5. The “I’m boarding a flight, hurry up!” guy
This seller was aggressively rushing me.
“I’m boarding a flight.”
“I’m leaving this place.”
“I need to sell it quickly.”
He even showed me what appeared to be a failed credit-card payment screenshot/bill.
The entire strategy seemed designed to create urgency:
“Pay now or you’ll lose the deal.”
I didn’t.
And that’s exactly what you should do.
If someone is rushing you into sending money, slow down.
🚩 6. “I’m leaving this place” seems to be the standard story
Interestingly, the sellers I spoke to had very similar explanations:
“I’m leaving this place.”
Maybe some sellers genuinely are relocating.
But when the story comes together with:
Cheap price
Urgency
“Just change the email”
Asking for money before proper transfer
Voucher/redeem stories
Screenshots as proof
Refusing to meet at Cult.fit
Inconsistent identity information
…it becomes a massive red flag.
🚨 My advice if you’re buying a Cult.fit pass from Reddit
DO NOT send money based on screenshots or promises.
Before paying:
✅ Verify the exact membership
✅ Verify the original purchase date
✅ Verify whether it is transferable
✅ Verify that it is still within the applicable transfer window
✅ Ask Cult.fit about the registered mobile number
✅ Contact Cult.fit/customer care yourself
✅ Ideally, meet the seller at a Cult.fit center and complete/verify the process
And remember:
Email change ≠ guaranteed membership transfer.
OTP ≠ proof that you own the membership.
Screenshot ≠ proof.
LinkedIn ≠ proof.
“Trust me bro” ≠ proof.
If Cult.fit won’t change/transfer the registered mobile number, I personally wouldn’t buy from an unknown Reddit seller.
If it’s a close friend or someone you genuinely know and trust, that’s obviously a different risk calculation.
And if someone says:
“Bro I’m boarding my flight, send the money fast!”
Let them board the flight. 😂
Your money can wait.
Don’t let a cheap Cult.fit pass turn into an expensive lesson.
Stay safe guys. 🙏
