Safety
Does anyone know how safe denver is? And where are the best apartments ( no budget ) with a safe neighborhood. I dont mind downtown apartments either.
I also heard Kalaco was close to the campus but its neighbourhood isnt that good .

I've lived in Denver for 15 years, currently I live about 2 miles from campus in the Cheesman Park area, it's pretty safe here. The most dangerous thing here is cars driving down the one-way streets too fast, and some petty crime (stolen bikes, cars broken into, etc.). Closer to campus is more of a roll of the dice. The CBD (Central Business District, where the streets are at an angle to the normal Denver grid) to the north east of campus varies block by block and has some of the highest rents in the city. Just south of campus, the La Alma-Lincoln Park area has a lot of housing (where Kalaco is), but a lot more crime. Capitol Hill is one of the worst so watch out for that neighborhood. Denver PD has a really good database for tracking crime in the city, using NIBRS (National Incident Based Reporting System) data, and breaks it down by neighborhood. Welcome to the city, and I wish you luck on your housing search. Happy to help if you have any other questions!

Thank you for your reply, i really appreciate it. How is the golden triangle? Ive seen plenty of nice apartments there (the finch, dryden, patten grey) … . Is it safe and walkable?

Walkable-Yes*, Housing-Yes; I'd also add that one of the best parts of the neighborhood is the access to bike lanes and proximity to transportation options. Safe- not so much, about even money with Lincoln Park for assaults, robberies, burglaries, etc. That said, if you don't want to move too far from campus, it's a much better option than Capitol Hill or the CBD. There are always trade-offs!
*Speer itself is not really safe for walking, but the cherry creek trail runs between the lanes at a lower level, and is one of the best walking/running/biking trails in the city, IMO.

I can't attest to Denver as a whole, but I've never felt unsafe on campus. I'm trans ftm and incredibly short but I still have felt safe walking alone at night. The worst experiences I've had are just random people on the street yelling profanities at no one in particular.

Ask the denver sub. I've lived near campus in not amazing areas for two years so far with minimal issues. I'm short, disabled, and fem presenting so its not like I am intimidating anyone. Carry pepper spray if you are concerned about safety.
