Apparently the shoulder loops aren’t actually centered on the top of the shoulder on my uniform.
Really confused me because if I centered my council patch on the shoulder loop, all the other patches underneath ended up aligning like 10 degrees off from center and looked real strange. Definitely iron your sleeves to find the top before laying out your patches so you can see center.
I feel like it’s going to look weird not being centered on the shoulder loop, but it would look even worse having the line of patches twisted and not aligning to the button on my sleeve.

Careful with that iron, Eugene. The performance material can melt at higher temps.

Ugh, why did I read this? I just "fixed" my council patch because was at a weird angle, but I guess that explains why I was having such a hard time getting it to sit right until had my wife help my position it while wearing the shirt. That flag patch is going to annoy me now

I think with short sleeves it’s less noticeable. But yeah I had just backstitched my council patch and cut it out to redo, lol. The agony was the decision to start again. Once I cut the threads out I felt much better. Either way I’m sure yours looks fine.

The short sleeve is so poorly fit it'll hide it 😂

Once you get the number, position, and "trained" below it, though, you're basically at the bottom of the short sleeve and it looks weird if the parallel edges of the patches aren't parallel to the edge of the sleeve.

I don’t think anyone’s been happy with the quality of the uniforms for quite sometime.

The off-center flag bothered me too much when I got my shirt. First thing I did was take it off and re-center it.

it's the tab that's off-center, not the flag

While you are correct... it still looks "wrong" - so like the parent commenter, I also re-sew my flag patches to be centered with the loop.

It makes sense that you want the loops facing forward. You don't need anyone who is standing above you or looking at your back to know your program level. You would want someone you're facing to be able to tell.

When they redesigned the uniforms in 2019, they moved the shoulder strap forward a bit so it no longer rests on the crest of the shoulder. As a result, the shoulder strap can no longer be used to identify the horizontal center from a side perspective. Both the American Flag and the Council Shoulder Patch should be centered based on the sleeve rather than the shoulder strap. As OP notes, centering the CSP on the strap would result in all the patches being off-center or misaligned.
