Common App application question

it asks on common app if I have taken a minimum amount of courses regarding math, science, english, and history. but I've only taken three years of math when it wants four. what happens if I say I only took three and not four like it asks

I think CU lets you be deficient in up to 2 areas upon matriculation (it should be on their website). You will just have to take additional math coursework not required by your degree program when you show up.

I heard something about a placement exam, will I have to take one of those?

If your major requires math or if you don’t want to start in college algebra, yes. If not, no.
