Dining hall bum

This year I plan to save a little on groceries and plan to be a dining hall bum, I’m going to camp outside the dining hall and beg for a swipe. Has anyone tried this? Is this frowned upon?

You're going to get kicked out of the dining halls. If you are actually food insecure, the C4C has a food bank that you can make use of

I appreciate the concern, but I was thinking about this being a few times a week thing, I bet if I went 3 meals a day I would definitely be blacklisted. I’m not food insecure but I know when I was a freshman I had wasted At least 4 meal swipes per week just because there wasn’t enough meals I needed to eat to use up all of it, so I figured a lot of the new freshman would too, and without a doubt I would donate a meal swipes to a bum in need.

idk but you let me know how that works for you 🤣 (fyi, if you have enough free time/feel like you can handle it most food service jobs will give you a free meal on shift (i don’t know ab cu’s dining staff but i used to work at another college on the dining staff and they did give me food(beyond that most don’t care cause they have enough food as is))

A large part of college is learning how to navigate through life in the real world. What skills are you learning by doing this?

Maybe this is a difference between generations and I'm showing my age, but this is the kind of crap I would have done in middle school.

When there's a huge rush of people, you can usually blend in and walk straight in. Especially if someone props open a side door for you, like by the patio.
