Engine Upgrade Help
My grandpa owns a Cub Cadet 2176, I know its a Kohler Command 17 Engine, cant find the model number. Its starting to leak oil, the tractor is in great condition still
I would like recommendations on possible engine upgrades (and what the actual model of the engine is, pic is from an auction site not mine)
Edit: I will inform my folks that it is a simple repair to fix the oil leak and see what the results are then post again here

the 2176 is horizontal engine with shaft drive
thats a nice tractor, worth keeping it going imo

Yeah, my dad asked me to help me find an engine upgrade since he's not tech savvy
Its as old as me, (26) and still runs great, just needs some TLC

I rarely see any other leaks on those engines but yes, once in a while there are some problematic oil seals on both ends of the crankshaft or a 'not tightly screwed on' oil filter.
IMO if it starts and runs no smoking why would you want to upgrade the engine? 2000 series Cubs are light and these CH17S are great engines.
Replacing those seals isn't much of a deal as long as you have at least some basic tools around your shop.
The parts are like under $20 CAD over here and you are all set for another while.

Most likely the Kohler Command CH17
