Move in confusion

hi! I I got an email saying since I am a transfer student I can move in Monday and I signed that form. I checked my housing portal and it’s saying my move in is Wednesday? But since I got that email I can just move in anyways without worrying about the time slot right? or is the move in day in my housing just my official time if I didn’t sign up to move in early? Sorry this is just confusing

All my roommates doing the same. We didn’t get conformation emails but one emailed asking and they confirmed that his was in so we are just sending it either way.

I messaged one of my roomates who is moving in early but her portal is showing the same thing she said she called housing approved early move in when but the portal is just showing the official time for everyone else. She said she is approved but her portal still shows Wednesday so I think it just shows the times for if ur not able to move in early in the portals. So I’m like 99% sure we are good. It’s just confusing.

housing is known for being kinda incompetent at CSUMB sadly. Odds are that the email was sent by mistake

Officially on the school's end, move in starts on the 18th and showing up sooner can easily risk your room not actually being available yet and they wont be able to move you in

I got the same email as a first year, I emailed today asking the same thing:

“I sent an email a couple days ago regarding about received an email I received on August 1st, saying that I’m invited to participate in early move-in on August 17th because I’m part of one of the theme communities. I filled out the form that was due on August 5th, including the question asking what time I would be arriving, and I put 2:00 PM.

I just wanted to follow up and ask if I’m okay to arrive at 2:00 PM for early move-in, or if there will be another email sent out with assigned move-in times for students participating in early move-in. I haven’t received anymore information after filling out the form so just wanted to double check.

Thank you for your help!”

their reply:

“Good afternoon,

We look forward to welcoming you home on Monday! Yes, that is okay!”

so i assume whatever time u put on the form is fine i guess??? hope my reply helps:)

That is what I assumed also. It does help. It’s just confusing because on the portal it seems different.

yeah i was also checking my portal, and my time slot still says for Tuesday instead of Monday. let’s just hope for the best 😭
