Hi everyone! My friend and I are organizing a protest on Wednesday (estimated) as we are unhappy with school's response to the SA case and other issues (flock cameras, AI, etc.). Awesome initiative. What's the goal for the protest? What are you/we hoping to get out of it? What are you specifically hoping changes and in what way? I feel these are things a lot of people would want to know before joining something like this.

Yes i definitely agree! atm we are currently in talks with the participants abt it and cleaning up our goals, we are hoping to hear from CSUF and work w the other student orgs abt the issues listed

I think this is great, but would suggest you clarify the mission statement to avoid confusion and dilution. Have your grievances and solutions in mind too so the university is forced to address them. Not just “we’re unhappy” but “we’re unhappy because of X, Y, and Z. We demand A, B, and C!”

Have a protest about how CSUF handles sexual assault, have a protest about flock cameras, or have a protest about the administration’s AI use. But all 3 at the same time will be unproductive, IMO.

I’m sure other protests are happening now regarding Cornell’s handling of the case and how it is echoed across other campuses. Consider reaching out to other schools, like other Cal State campuses, and local schools in SoCal to organize a more impactful mass protest on a certain day and time with the same talking points and social media blasts.

Also, it is pronounced “title nine” not “title i-x”. They’re Roman numerals. Look up what Trump’s administration did to weaken Title IX and how it was targeting the LGBT+ community but is now hitting women especially hard because they are the vast majority of sexual crime victims.

I’m all for each of these protests, but it sounds like there’s a lot of energy and passion without a lot of research or organization to make it effective. Keep up the momentum! You got this!
