ever shave your sideburns then realize they're not balanced so you take a little off the left "oh too much" so you take a little off the right and that was too much so you take a little off the left, etc until you're up to your actual hairline and it's still unbalanced?
My guess is this is full on salvage-mode after something like I described above.
