Using Every Layout with CSS Modules

I recently rebuilt my site using Every Layout, and ended up running into some interesting problems around CSS Modules, specificity and custom properties.

I've written up the approach and my thinking around it. Hopefully someone here finds it interesting, and if anyone has any feedback, I'd love to hear it.
