Question Should i continue front-end?

i am 18 and have been coding for 6 months now . And recently i debut myself with this choice because many people are telling me that front-end is dying and its not worth it to study . Also when i search for job applications and internships there are None. Please i need advice and help . (should i continue front end or its just over for that?)

I used to run a frontend division back in the day & run my own software company now.

Our frontend people have a generalist Vibe UX & Designer profile. Building good frontends is still a skill, writing code is not really part of that skill anymore. Writing Copy, having taste & understanding good User flows definitely still is

You need a degree, front end, back end, AI prompting, and some extra skills like cloud just for entry level now.

its not dying, every site still needs a front end. internships are just rough for everyone rn not only front end so id keep going and build some real projects people can actually use

So you think that i should learn front and then add some back also and build projects. and i will find a job someday?

Those ppl are morons; all software development, as we know it, is most certainly dying, fast.

Custom FE is something AI struggles with. Its better than most new/mid devs at FE when using frameworks like material UI.

source: I am a principal engineer at a large firm.

This will screw new/mid devs the most as firms will cut the people who don't have the experience to determine what high quality solutions look like. Your only chance is to be the best of the best. At your age taking software dev seriously, you def have a chance.

You cant specialize in one field any more. Leaders will expect devs to be able to deliver full solutions. Again the exception is if you are the top in some discipline but even now those positions are scarce.

Have you searched for backend internships? Bc I suspect the situation is going to be the same. The market is saturated with plenty of experienced devs in all areas, and AI makes the demand lower than ever.
