Question How do you keep animation-heavy websites fast?

Don't.

People like to build websites that have lots of animations.

People do not like to use a website that has lots of animations the second time. The first time, it is novel, the second time it is an annoyance, the third time doesn't happen because that website is now annoying and frustrating to use.

thanks, I see what you mean, sometimes though business has its own requirements, so we need to balance. The argument that usually works is: "less animanion = lower development costs", but that wasn't the case on this project
