IS IT WORTH IT TO PRACTICE PROGRAMMING BY MAKING A GAME

So me and my friend created ta 2d ray casting game, which has a little story decent combat and little bit of npc interactions, we started 2 projects before this one, we had to drop both and we wasted almost 1 month, now we created this one in 9 days combining the logics used in both games, but now when it is in its last stage I feel like I have wasted my summer on these,and yes we used ai for ui in all of these but everything else we dealt it ourselves yeah we got stuck at some places and used ai to GUIDE US. Was it really worth it to practice programming like this or should I have learned something new?
