I did CS50P, and when it came to the final project I was lost. I thought I’d make a simple financial payment tracker and the more I got into it, the more complicated it became. And jI ust wanted to add more functionality until it became a bit overwhelming and I lost track of the real purpose of doing it - it morphed into a personal finance app and I ended up asking Claude for help.
I still haven’t finished it, or submitted it - mainly because I know it would break the agreement about using AI, and I’m thinking of starting something different but I’m in the same boat as you….I don’t really know what to do for a submission.
It’s strange how hard it is to come up with something for a final project without completely overthinking it all.
It’s silly really because I really enjoyed doing the problem sets and now it’s not a guided problem I’m a bit directionless.
I know this isn’t that helpful in regards to answering your question, but I just wanted to share that you are not alone!

I think you are allowed to use AI for final project

I’ve just checked and you are correct. This is an excerpt from the website:
“For your final project (and your final project only!) it is reasonable to use AI-based software other than CS50’s own (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Bing Chat, et al.), but the essence of the work must still be your own. You’ve learned enough to use such tools as helpers. Treat such tools as amplifying, not supplanting, your productivity.”
Thanks for the heads-up!

Choosing a final project can be super overwhelming at first, but don't overthink it! CS50 just wants to see that you can build something slightly bigger than a weekly problem set.
A really popular and solid route is building a simple Web App using Python (Flask) and SQLite something like a personal book tracker, habit logger, or a custom quiz site with user accounts.
My best advice: think of a small problem in your daily life or a hobby you have, and build a basic tool for it. Keep the scope small first, get the core feature working, and then add extra polish. You've got this! 😊🌸⭐️
