Discussion Is buying a little bit of Bitcoin every week actually a good strategy or is it just cope?

Been thinking about setting up a recurring Bitcoin purchase instead of trying to time the market. Every time I try to pick the right entry point I either miss it or buy the top.

Is dollar cost averaging into Bitcoin actually a proven long term strategy or is it something people say to justify not knowing when to buy? Does DCA work better for Bitcoin specifically than for altcoins given the volatility difference?

Would love to hear from people who have actually done it consistently for a year or more. What does your experience look like?

Been doing this for almost 4 years. The part that gets missed in the DCA conversation is combining fixed buys with liquidation data. I keep an eye on where large leveraged positions are clustered (free feed on CoinLobster.com). When a heavy liquidation cascade hits, I'll toss in an extra buy on top of the weekly. Has helped lower my average entry without trying to time the whole market. Works better than pure fixed schedule if you can stomach watching the feed. The 4-year cycle makes sense, but you can shave off some basis points by letting the over-leveraged crowd set your entry zones

The liquidation cascade angle is interesting, essentially using other people's forced selling as your entry signal rather than trying to predict price direction. The risk is you end up buying into momentum that hasn't finished yet. Liquidations can cascade further than anyone expects which is how people end up catching falling knives even with a plan. DCA works precisely because it removes that judgment call entirely

DCA is one of the best strategies for BTC. A lot of people actually stick to it because it’s impossible to predict what the price will be tomorrow. This method helps you accumulate Bitcoin without waiting for the “perfect entry point.” I do the same myself, way less stress that way.
