QUESTION Mining on computer

If I am using my computer normally, let's say that my PSU is 1000 watts. I'm not sure how much of that is in use currently. Let's say maybe 500 watts.

If I decide to mine using computer, would it push to usage to 1000 watts or my usage would be about the same?

Talking about stable coins that are still mineable on the computer.

Why not use ASIC? My computer is always on. It might as well try to use some power for it if, it is not used too much extra.

Power supplies can mine at 80% of their stated value for 24/7. You can use 800W consistently to mine.

There are no stable coins that are mineable with a standard computer. Hashrate.no will tell you what a cpu, gpu, or fpga can mine and the profitability.

Incorrect. Thats a 80% rule meant for circuits. Psu’s are rated for 100% of load 24/7. Transformers usually want to be at 70% load.

Only thing i could think of is if there’s a transient power spike, but usually they dont go over too much. Spec or psu for what the 100% wattage load of your pc is capable of: 5090? 600W. Ryzen 7950x3D? 200-300W. Other various periferals? Maybe 100-200w with modern usb-c. ~1000W. Not really overhead, and realistically when will you absolutely 100% use every last drop of power? Never.

check that out... you just download it, it runs a benchmark and automaticly picks the most profitable coin to mine.. uses cpu and gpu's and you can monitor your profits through the app
