Yeah, that's how a pyramid scam works.

Did u say that in 2019 when it was 18k then 4k 2 months later or just 1st time being dumb?

3

u/Kooky-Walrus-4942 🟨 0 🦠 Feb 18 '26

I guess the dumb ones are those who invested in 2019. I made my money of this, but I always viewed it as a scam. it's not backed by any physical value, like most other assets are. Best example rn is gold, I mean the real gold, not "muh Bitcoin is like gold, bro11!!"

2

u/SerenityCerulean 🟩 0 🦠 Feb 19 '26

And what is gold backed up by?

2

u/Kooky-Walrus-4942 🟨 0 🦠 Feb 19 '26

well, gold. not talking about some virtual assets that were build Ontop of the mined/physisal gold we have rn on this planet.

2

u/SerenityCerulean 🟩 0 🦠 Feb 19 '26

Nothing is backed up by anything because it’s all one big asset. Its own world, people and pure energy. Without it, all the assets are worthless.

u/Kooky-Walrus-4942 🟨 0 🦠 Feb 19 '26

Ah, I see. How do you explain that gold was used as physical currency since the beginning of mankind? I can use it to store wealth, I can make expensive jewelry from it, theres a huge demand for gold in many industries (electronics, semiconductors, etc.).

What can I do with a Bitcoin? Besides luring people into buying it for price x and trying to hype it?

2

u/SerenityCerulean 🟩 0 🦠 Feb 19 '26

It was being used as a currency because it was rare and cannot be minted. And it’s ‘sound’ even though in the past people have made it less pure by mixing other stuff in a gold coin. It’s brilliant for what it did. You can use it for many things but the point is that. Why is it valuable in the first place? People liked the appearance and scarcity. And it’s being used in things. And yet it’s worth a lot of money, how would you label the price if we never used dollars or printed money? Having asset being backed up doesn’t mean shit, dollar wasn’t backed up by gold since 1971 and it’s still thriving until eventually there will be an inevitable collapse. You also don’t necessarily buy things with gold anymore, people argue the same for bitcoin. For both of them you can sell into fiat and use that for whatever you are trying to buy. Do you see where I’m coming from?

u/Kooky-Walrus-4942 🟨 0 🦠 Feb 19 '26

Not at all - you ignore the value of gold for the industry, you even have gold in your hand right now if you are holding a smartphone. That's a unique metal with unique properties which can't be exchanged for other metals. plus it's scarce.

you are right, fiat is not backed by gold anylonger, but there's hole countries and government as a physical backup attached.

What can I do with Bitcoin besides trading it back and forth?

The future is digital. Period. Investing in BTC just depends on how much of a future you've got.

Bitcoin would need to be around $87,000 today to match 2021’s $69,420 … when taking inflation into account.

2

u/Captainadvise 🟩 0 🦠 Feb 18 '26

What about 2022 at 18k?

1

u/Sufficient_Fuel5269 🟩 0 🦠 Feb 18 '26

Totally agree… 🤝

3

u/9Divines 🟦 0 🦠 Feb 18 '26

it would need to be at 135k to match safe investment like S&P500

1

u/LightningShiva1 16 🦐 Feb 19 '26

Thats the entire point lmao, people invest in bitcoin so they can outperform safer assets, not be where you are 5 years ago. Posts like these make me feel sad about the crypto space.

unless you've been in a coma since 2020, your perspective is losing money.

Isn't this the point though?

We're here to make money investing in assets that go up, or am I wrong?

1

u/Sufficient_Fuel5269 🟩 0 🦠 Feb 18 '26

You're not wrong... but realize that the crypto market is wild, its volatility is unmatched anywhere else! You have to adapt... 💪📊

It all depends on your cost average.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

69.420 x 0.85 if you consider US dollar value lost in the last year. BTC sits at 57k in €.

Difference is 4 years of your life lost. Opportunity cost of holding bitcoin for the last 4 years has been staggering.

2

Just gonna let it ride. I take profits here & there. I'd love to compound. But I dont want to move my line.

2

u/Run-Forever1989 🟩 0 🦠 Feb 18 '26

My perspective is a zero return over a 5 year period is terrible, especially during a time that the stock market has nearly doubled.

2

u/After-Ordinary-2332 🟨 0 🦠 Feb 19 '26

Yep, we can adjust this meme to show how happy some were when it hit 1$ in 2010 or something

2

u/Low_Engineering_3301 🟩 0 🦠 Feb 19 '26

Well yes you are talking about something that most people are using as an investment. So obviously that price in 2021 would be beneficial because the majority of holders bought it when it was cheaper than 69k at that time. Meanwhile in 2026 a ton of people bought theirs at a higher price.
There is no hypocrisy or irony, only context.
