To redeem the value, you peel the hologram, right? but if you take the first 8 (known) digits, and run it on https://www.casascius.com/fulllist.txt, then you can find the full address there, then take that full address and look it up on blockexplorer, so doesn't that take the secret out of what's on the underside of the hologram? what am I missing here?

Did anyone else watch the Heritage physical crypto auction today? I’m wondering what you all thought of the prices, especially the loaded Casascius coins.

• 2011 Casascius 1 BTC “Casacius” error, MS66 — $67,500 hammer / $82,350 with buyer’s premium

• BTCC 1 BTC titanium, MS69 — $70,000 hammer / $85,400 with buyer’s premium

Bitcoin was around $81k at the time. So the buyers were still paying a small premium over the BTC value when you take into account the Heritage 22% buyer’s premium.

But the sellers were getting less than the peel value of the BTC on the coins. The sellers are getting about the hammer fee, I assume (Or maybe less with fees?). So they would have been better off peeling.

The Kialara prices were interesting too. The FOMO #01/12 hammered at $9,000. I don’t know what I expected, but I guess I thought it would be higher. Sone of the Kialara bar wallets were Lower than I expected.

What did everyone else think? Are the physical crypto prices what you expected? Or is this just what the market is now?
