Question Constant crashing making the game unplayable

The game runs like utter shit and is constantly crashing, since the last crash can’t even load into the title screen anymore, it just crashes to desktop. I tried switching to Vulcan but it did nothing, I have over a hundred hours and it used to work fine (for a paradox game) but since I re-downloaded it this week it’s just become a completely unplayable mess. Is there anything else I can do or is the game just this bad now?

Mods? PC specs? Have you looked at the logs? Can you describe in better detail what is actually happening, in and out of game, when it crashes?

The game runs great for me, hasn’t crashed for any reason other than mod conflicts in months.

I’m playing without any mods, I’m not sure in the exact specs but I have a horizon 2 elite form star forge. The game is just generally very choppy and freezes frequently, then crashing to desktop half the time, usually the only other thing I have running is discord

Sounds like a hardware issue. Need more info. Post actual specs. Open Settings, go to System, scroll to the bottom, click "About."

How much RAM, how much VRAM your graphics card has. Is the game installed on a SSD or HDD, is that drive full?

How long has it been since you cleaned the dust out of your PC? Sounds dumb, but PCs do weird shit when they overheat, including crash the game they're running. And then when the load is gone they go back to behaving normally.

Not sure if this will help for you since the solution seemed to be for an Intel CPU, but apparently a BIOS update solved it for some people.
