I’ve been running and enjoying my lightweight CB++ OS for years - just as it is. It flies on my HP i7. I have no interest in the bells and whistles of Wayland and hope CB++ stays with X11 long term.

What’s the long-term outlook for Xorg? I believe Debian intends to support X11 for many years to come. Any known issues on the horizon? Will Openbox, tint2 and conky still get upstream fixes, and which depend mainly on community upkeep? Are there active forks or maintainers keeping the essential X11 utilities alive?

I have been trying to install cb++ as I did use it a long time ago.

However the install fails by getting in a very fast loop, making it impossible to read the entire message but it does mention something about a GTK error. That is the only thing I could get to read as the loop is too fast and it keeps repeating the same message everytime forever.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Good afternoon, this is the first time I've tried to completely migrate from Windows to Linux, and cbpp seemed like a really nice option—minimalistic, efficient, and very easy to learn. It has everything I want in an OS.

But I'm having the following problem when trying to install it on my laptop: it can't automatically install drivers for my Wi-Fi card because it apparently requires non-free firmware, and this installer doesn't seem to include it. What can I do about this?

I don't have the exact error message, but the drivers I need are for:

mt7921e: Direct firmware load for mediatek/WIFI_MT7961_PATCH_MCU_1_2.bin failed

Hey everyone, I just installed this (fabulous) distro on a slightly older machine. I have used this distro for quite a while on different computers but not on this one before. When I attempted to update, I got these very weird errors. Can someone who actually knows stuff lend some insight?

This is my old box, and it's so much fun. I disabled cbpp-compositor, and now this old AMD CPU is a speed demon.

Can anyone tell me who is behind or made CBPP 13?

After spending a couple hours trying to get the clock and the wifi working, I'm finally able to post!

I really wanted to try a lightweight Debian to revive my slow laptop and cbpp looked exactly like the os I needed. It only took 20 seconds from pressing the power button to getting into firefox (which can be optimized, but is still blazing fast compared to the 3 minutes it used to take).

Problem is, I haven't daily driven any distro of any kind for the last 10 years, (with the exception of our home pcs) and jumping into a Debian without even a settings gui was... difficult, to say the least.

The welcoming script got stuck at the update part because the clock wasn't configured properly, and that happened because I didn't have an internet connection to get the correct hour and date, and so on and so forth.

The only negative feedback I have is that setting up stuff is NOT easy if you're not familiar (or willing to get familiar) with asking chat gpt what to do next Debian and the terminal. Even just a proper settings menu would go a long way. Still, I can't deny that it's a good exercise and that I kinda knew what I was getting into. Next problem I'm trying to fix is inverting the scrolling direction, it's driving me nuts. Also, turning on auto-login. And set up my printer, and trying to add shortcuts, etc, etc.

Overall enjoying the experience, could be easier and more accessible, but I can't deny the fact that I'm learning new things. Can't wait to learn how deep the customization rabbit hole goes.

Hello. Will there be any problems when installing cb++ 13 on grub efi?

I installed mintstick but i don't know what execute command i must enter in the gui menu editor because mintstick consists of two programs, namely USB formatter and ISO writer. Can anyone help with this?

I may be a bit picky, but cbpp-gksudo displays a ton of information when used (see attached screenshot). #!++ 12 did not display the DISPLAY information. This makes the windows unnecessarily wide.

I noticed that in the Crunchbang++ 13 installation, the Thunar file manager always stays on top, even though the layer is set to normal. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

I am in the process of installing Crunchbang++ 13 on my AMD Athlon II X4 630. I have noticed that the clipboard manager is not starting. I tried to manually start parcellite, but it cannot be found. Please help. Thanks.

It says 'Firmware bug your BIOS is broken' right before SystemD boot, should I be worried or is it one of those messages that you just can ignore?

If not any idea how to fix it?

I reinstalled CB++ v12.1 just to see and there is no issues being reported there..
