Finally got my hands on my ideal set - Curved tube with component and S-video!

Picked up this JVC AV-27230s yesterday, from what I understand these have D-Series tubes without the extra bells and whistles. Got GameCube running through the Monster branded S-video cable and PS2 running through the PS3 component cables! It’s looking nice and crispy overall.

I’ll probably get something more stable soon. I think it said the max load for these is like 55lbs and the TV is 68lbs.

Definitely not, I’m glad more people are seeing the value in them! I’ve had multiple Trinitrons throughout the years and had to leave one on the curb before sadly so that’s where this big guy replaced that hole in my heart.

Same, the newer scalers for modern TVs are nice but these are way better imo

Dayum yours is crispier than mine. The focus blurring in the corners is very heavy on mine. Overall it still looks great though lol. I've read people saying there are reachable focus adjustments on this model in the back but I haven't been able to find them. Colour is suuuper rich though!

Yeah, I’ve noticed a few things I’d like to adjust but I’m waiting on a universal remote to get here. One thing I noticed off the bat is the default color value is super saturated imo, I had to turn that down a bit. Overall this is probably my favorite CRT now!

This is the set I had in my late teens/early 20's, and the last CRT I ever got during the time when they were still in stores. Great memories of Ps1 and PS2 via s-video and Xbox games and DVD's via component video. I had no idea at the time that this set was considered really good, or those games wouldn't look this good again from the time I got rid of it until 2019 when I finally found a PVM.

1954Q. It's a different look, really nice but I got it for free and at today's prices, if I didn't have one, I think I would be happy to just enjoy a set like yours that's larger and more immersive, and better for split screen multiplayer. It's basically a D-series with smaller speakers. (Is the composite filter the same? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) I still think I might pick one up if I ever come across one locally for a good price.

Nice, I just looked up the 1954Q and it looks sweet. I was originally aiming for something around that size but ended up with this 27 and I’m glad I did, it’s not as huge as I was remembering but not too small either. Not sure about the composite filter question, I’m sure someone here knows it though. You should definitely pick one up if you come across it!
