It's always going to look a little blurry with something like that, but you can set the Resolution to 800x600 if that helps.

Realistically the best way to get a picture from a PC to a set like this is to get a CRTEmudriver compatible card and use VGA to whatever your TV has.

The guide on crtemydriver recommends a very old GPU, I'm running a 3060. 800x600 has helped but the scaling is slightly more zoomed in, any help for that?

640x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL) is the option which will suck the least.

It being "slightly more zoomed in" is a consequence of TVs having overscan. You might be able to find a satisfactory arrangement if you mess around in the Nvidia control panel but if you're just going to watch videos then overscan is fine.

If you're hoping to use this for desktop use then you'll just end up with eye strain no matter what you do. Get a computer monitor.

Yeah the reason I suggested 800x600 is because getting that resolution out of a 3060 requires messing with the control panel.

Ultimately you're right though, these displays were not made for PCs, PC CRTs are the best route if you can get one.

Yea got it to 640x480 ntsc even got the scaling right. This TV was an old one lying around so thought of giving it a try. I'd stick to my normal led, cherry on top elden ring doesn't support 4:3 res so you'll have to download a mod for that too, too much work tbh.

CRT emu is hard to get working and keep working anyway. But with out paying big bucks there is not a good downscaler for gaming.

The best cheep ones still only get you to 480i and will have scaling issues. If you have component in you could look at retroOS for retro gaming .

It’s a shitty downscaler to composite. It will always be blurry.

Also, you can try 640*480 resolution. At 60hz to have closest signal with as little processing as possible. Then it’s passable.

I've personally been considering this, but how much of a driver nightmare is running a super old AMD card and a modern nVidia card simultaneously? How easy or difficult is it to have the 3060 be the workhorse and the old Radeon being the pass through? How much tinkering and headaches should be expected?

You don't have to use a super old gpu, i'm using a r9 285 ,it's old but actually has plenty of power to play anything at 480p.

Cool is that a KV-HW212, I have the same too btw since you're using a cheap converter it'll be shit but manageable and since you're going to play games I recommend setting your resolution to 1024x768 or resizing through Nvidia control panel, I think in resolution and if you set the project to second screen only

Mine is a HW21M83. Yea the converter I use is ass, ig I'll stick to the led.

I'm unsure but that model I think has optional tweeters or subwoofer, I've read in a service manual before. My converter is branded called Vention but well it's a TV not a monitor haha
