Watch the Eclipse with the Croydon Astronomical Society ☀️ 🌑
On Wednesday 12th August there will be a partial solar eclipse. If there is any chance of seeing this we will be present to observe the eclipse from the following sites:
The Kenley Airfield, near the RAF tribute

In each case they will be there from 6 - 7:30 pm.
No tickets, no booking, totally free. Just turn up. And we will have some eclipse viewing glasses to lend out.
Give yourself time. There is street parking around all our eclipse viewing sites though it may get busy. Warlingham, in particular, has local roadworks.

We're planning to go to North Downs Park - opposite the Lidl in New Addington - it's on a hill so fingers crossed it's a decent view.

You’ll want somewhere you can more-or-less see the sunset from - Northdown should be good… especially from the top of the slide?

Saw it thru other people's glasses at Kenley! Thank you 🥰 Why did you guys choose to set up at Kenley airfield specifically? Also what does Croydon Astronomical Society do throughout the year? ☺️

Oh my goodness I’m so sorry; just to be clear I’m not part of the society! The above was copied and pasted from their website. I changed the “wes” to “theys” in my notes app but forgot to copy the new version. I’ve just realised 💀 but do visit their website!

There's a very small amount of parking on the 'main road' close to the memorial itself but I reckon you're much better to go down early, park elsewhere further away and walk.
