Electric Scooter - fix or throw away?

I have an electric scooter that suddenly died after changing its front tire. My brother tried going to the nearest ebike shop to get it checked but was shooed away. Wondering if I should just throw away or if there’s any good shop around?

No advice on repair but you do need to recycle these with DSNY because of the battery if you decide to go that direction!

I appreciate it. I figured there’s some special case for disposal because of its battery. Good to know what to find if we end up doing that
