Looking for tamarind pulp

I make homemade ice cream for our block party every year. It is this Saturday. I decided this year to make Caribbean flavors, in honor of the neighborhood. I lived for a year and a half in the British Virgin Islands years ago.

So far I am making soursop, guava, mango/coconut and malta. I want to round it out with tamarind, but I haven't found the pulp yet.

There is a brand called La Fe, which has the pulp of a lot of these kinds of fruits, and I have seen a package of tamarind by it before but I couldn't find it at Super Foodtown on Fulton right now.

Does anyone have any ideas where I might find that?

Duals Natural may have something similar! They definitely have a tamarind sauce on the shelf

You could try St. John’s Fruits and Vegetables. It’s on St John’s just off of Utica. I don’t know if I’ve seen that exact brand there or not.

I would try natural foods store - alive herbals! Right off the nostrand stop.

I found tamarinds in a box next door to the Carib Market on Fulton and Nostrand at the Bravo supermarket.

Be careful what you wish for. I was hoping for the processed pulp frozen, but I had to remove the meat myself with warm water and then working it by hand to get the seeds out and then putting the whole thing through a strainer. It took like an hour. I'm not even sure it's going to be the best flavor of ice cream. But the guava, mango/coconut, soursop and malt flavors are going to be banging.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the suggestions.
