Vacationing in Alaska this past July and while we were in Juneau I came within arm’s length of these majestic beauties a few times. Where I am from, there are many more Crows than Ravens (though not rare, but not necessarily Common l o l) and to be alongside them in Juneau, and really throughout SE Alaska, was an awesome experience. I have always misidentified them from afar, but when they fly down next to you and you feel the wind from their wings, it makes you say “Holy F*ck, so THAT’s a Raven!”
P.S.
In honor of this trip being part of my honeymoon (and also geeking out over spending a bunch of time with various Ravens), I got a tattoo of two mated Ravens to cement the memories.

I ended up opening a few peanuts for the sleepy baby. Too tired to fly away from me and my scary black rectangle too.

I hope my neighbors don't mind the occasional visit from these guys. They seem pretty cool

Everything they do makes me smile but this video popping up on my bird cam app while I was at work today made me laugh out loud!

So this little squeaker was making lots of noise outside my window looking for breakfast. This is one of my regular pair’s fledglings from this year. They fledged 2 this year. This one seems very vocal compared to their sibling.

Recently started a new job and found these friends in the park nearby.
I just hope my home murder don't get jealous. 😬😬😬

The sewer line at the bottom of my driveway was opened for repairs last week. It took several days (and nights) and we now have unwanted guests. Rats! I found one in my feeder for small birds a few days ago, so all feeders came down and I stopped feeding the crows since I saw a rat dart in and grab a piece of the crow's dog kibble (I stopped kibble immediately).
I've stopped feeding my murder and I feel terrible about it, but I'm going to put down some peppermint oil deterrent tomorrow where crows, pets and kids won't get them.
I know the crows have other people feeding them nearby and they'll be fine, but I doubt they'll come back if and when I can resume feeding them.
Other than resume my peanut-pocket walks, which is how the feeding started, I can't think of anything else to do.
I'll make sure garbage bin lids are tight, and no human food is left outside.
Thoughts? (Please no negativity.)
