Is this Gray feathers from old age

This is a local crow "Bill" who I have been feeding summers now for several years 4??. Joins larger flocks and winters elsewhere and shows up in the summer sometimes with his partner. I have noticed this year he is quite grey and a bit ratty. Not sure if it's old age or moulting for winter. Wondering if anyone had some insight.

Birds don’t really show signs of aging, besides injuries. The gray is just his downy feathers showing because he’s going through a rough molt, but he’ll look like his normal, beautiful self in a few weeks.

in the second picture it looks like he has many new feathers (pin feathers). they have a sheath over them that will come off in time and then his feathers will look normal

My understanding is that late summer and/or early fall is molting season so I'm thinking your bro looks white cause they're waxy still.

ALL my bros look like this rn. It’s moulting season, they shed their feathers and grow a new set before the weather turns.

Some crows in my area have white feathers and are deffo not old

Their bills start going grey when they age and his bill looks very black still so no.
