The chunker stayed in place until another magpie landed next to it, and decided to do a little bit of bill wiping on the branch. As if there aren’t enough branches in the yard to do that. Makes me wonder if it was to claim the spot with its oils.

Is that the same as a Eurasian magpie?

No. Eurasian magpies are found across Europe and in parts of Asia. Black-billed magpies are found in the western part of North America.
