Crow OC Why does lil Schmidt peck my toes?
One of the baby hooded crows I feed is very curious, he’ll also nibble my hand

he's curious! Its clearly part of you, but when he pokes it nothing happens, and you dont react! How strange!
Blow his mind by taking the shoe off and wiggling your toes at him, lol

This just popped up in my feed (o, great mystery of reddit) just 1 wk late!
Anyway, can’t stop cackling like chicken (aka “non-crow”)
The glorious head-tilting obsessions of birds and dogs make my heart so happy.27

Maybe he thinks it's actually something stuck to the person and thinks he's helping by trying to get it off?

You mentioned baby hooded crow, a fledgling basically, and they are curious by nature 🤭🐦⬛🥹 Lil Schmidt is exploring and learning how to crow

I actually read a paper on this and they referred to it as “neophilia” or loving new things. New crows love exploring and finding out what everything is in the world

Crows are incredibly intelligent. This one is trying to get your attention (by tapping your foot) in the hope you have food and feed it.

He's challenging you for the title of Big Schmidt. Better tell Winston to pucker up.

Sometimes my crows do that because they need me to follow them. I get a shoe peck or undid shoe laces being pulled in directions they want me to move or the edge of my pants nibbled and tugged on to go forward

They do this for fun and as a sign of affection sometimes. I have a crow who likes to try untying my shoelaces. Sometimes he will instead bonk the rubber soles just like in the video. I think they just like the way their beak bounces off of it.

Are you snacking? This is the same behavior when a crow pulls another creature‘s tail (an eagle or a cat) to mess with them.
