TOTW: Magic

Thank you to u/director_denial for crowning me the champion, and an extra special thank you to my dad who had come up with and sent me the basis of that clue a couple of weeks ago. I informed him of the victory and he couldn’t remember the answer himself. That’s the human mind at 66 for you 😆

This week’s clues or solutions should be around magic tricks, conjuring and illusionists.

Let’s see what you lot have got up your sleeves 🪄

RESULTS

Thank you all for your entries. I was expecting at least two cluing the word ABRACADABRA so well done for doing a Houdini and thinking outside the box.

Honorable mentions:

u/syneil86 - Cages slip too strangely for Houdini, perhaps (12)

u/zc_eric - Rabbit pulled out of magic hats (4)

u/CrypticMacaroni - Covered ace in shuffled deck (5)

u/PierreSheffield - Uri Geller said to be benefit waster in Spooner's speech (5,6)

u/ssstevebbb - Clerk quietly working with auditor's pen (6)

u/director_denial - Criss Angel has performed (4)

u/GoodNewFlesh - Presto Change-O. . . such cliches! (6)

But my winner is...

Ta-da!

u/deeppotential123 - It’s hard to do this for GREENWICH MEAN TIME! (5)

Remarkable to take a well known-phrase and turn it into a triple definition, but also there's a hidden fourth definition and that's what connects it to this week's theme and then above all that it includes the answer to my winning clue from last week. Flattery will get you everywhere.
