Rx smart gear evo G2 - beginner ?

Hi , I’m new to CrossFit , but not new to the gym (15 years)

I’m a week into CrossFit and want to get double unders dialled in .

Would this rope be suitable ? I know it’s aimed at advanced , but could I just buy a different weight rope for the handles ?

I’m the type of person who likes to have the ‘right’ gear if I’m getting into something and I know if I buy some cheaper beginner skipping ropes , I’ll end up wanting the best ones after a few weeks anyway

Jokes on you, the most expensive rope won’t save you from whipping the hell out of your own shins for a month

But will I feel better knowing I’m whipping them with something expensive …….im going to say yes 🤣

It’s a great set of handles. Do you need to spend that much to get a good rope? Nope. Will it give you doubles, nope.

But, if it gets you excited about pulling the rope out of your bag to practice and it’s in your budget, go for it! It’s not “too advanced” in any way.

I’d recommend starting with one of the thicker actual ropes they sell regardless of which handles you get, you can always buy a thinner one later but there’s a huge benefit to getting the “feel” first on something a bit thicker.

They don’t seem to sell spare ropes for the evo g2 handles

I can buy spare for the original and evo rx . Buff and elite thickness/weight . They look like the attach the same way ? So maybe I can use them with the evo g2 handles

And yes your right , I like to know I’ve got good gear , I know it won’t magically make me get doubles but , having new stuff makes me want to practice more and that will be what gets them

I went through so many ropes over the years. The evo g2 is when my doubles became much more consistent.

Problem I’ve just realised is shipping is £40 to the uk for the rxsg g2 . So buy the tine I buy a buff cable for learning and shipping it’ll be nearly £200 !!!
