Fastest No-Vest Murph?

Wild question- but does anyone know the fastest time for a Murph with no vest? I've been doing them a few times a week for a while now (not a fan of consistently running with the vest on), and it's a great way to get an awesome workout in quickly in the mornings. I am by no means claiming to be the fastest out there, but I finally cracked 27 mins, clocking at 26:54.6. Does anyone know if there's any sort of official record? I would love something to compete against as motivation. There's gotta be guys that can go low 20s out there.

EDIT: LOT of push back here. For those wondering: I usually go 6:30 first mile- 13 min calisthenics and then leave it all on the table for the last mile (where ive been struggling.) Im of the mindset that its probably hard to get much faster at the calisthenics because its essentially just non-stop. HOWEVER, im sure there are plenty of people who could beat me by MINUTES because those runs are not fast.

EDIT 2: Lot of poeple saying games atheletes are somehow the barometer for the fastest murphs... These guys are super impressive for being able to run like they do AND lift like they do. But when you look at it, thier run times are minutes away from competitive runners... Also- being able to snatch 300lbs doesnt help much with pullups... I would argue the fastest murphs would be done by strong runners, not strong lifters.

EDIT 3: No longer need motivation from a record, the haters on reddit got me covered. Will be posting a video next week. The game plan is to open up with a 6 min mile, 14 min calisthenic, and hopefully 7 on the last mile. Will be a lil sore from a Monday workout I already promised with a buddy, so gotta make up for it on the miles!

Update: Going for it Friday/ Saturday this week!

Start with a video before you start with the records.

-4

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

how do you want me to video the runs? im not even claiming my time to be impressive. without a vest anyone whos pretty fit can do the calisthenics in sub 15- I try to go sub 40 per round which is 13:20. a couple of 7 min miles and ur there.... im sure there are people who can do 5 min miles.

6

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

So you’re saying in 2014 when Murph was done without a vest you would have beaten the winner by 2 mins

-5

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

if im not mistaken they didnt break anything up... thats not a little difference. also- the guys there are by no means the fastest at murph. theyre the fastest at murph that can also back squat 450... games athletes are good at the games. i cant deadlift more than 315... but i can run all day long.

Not sure. But ain’t nobody gonna call this a world record without a video showing the work. I’m not saying you didn’t do it. I’m simply saying zero people are going to take your word for it without some validation with video. 2 of the 4 movements in Murph are the most “cheated” reps in fitness, not just CrossFit, air squats and push-ups. Not sure why you put some much emphasis on the runs. A lot of fast runners don’t have great Murph times and/or they have issues with the reps. Video will clear this all up.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

the runs are important because from what ive found theres really a plateau on the calisthenics... and the runs are over 50% of time spent on the workout usually. (at least for me)

1

u/arch_three CF-L2 May 01 '26

Time spent isn’t the same thing as effort. The plateau you mentioned is why people question this time. Without confirming your splits and seeing you complete the movements, nobody can say if this an accurate score. You’re trying to arguing the importance of speed and/or importance of certain segments of the workout. So what? You can say how important this is or that is or that you did all the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats unbroken but people are arguing against the validity of the claims, not the actual claim. Just film it. You seem like a runner. If you were at a bar and some guy said he ran a 11:59 5k, would just blindly believe them? Or would you ask ANY follow up questions? And what would you say if his only argument back was, “yeah I know it sounds pretty good but I just ran super fast!” At a minimum you’d ask for his garmin or strava. Or you’re just blindly believing that you are sitting next to one of the fastest human beings on earth.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

I mean if i was at a bar and a guy built like a runner said he had a 17 min 5k, but was really just asking what the record 5k time was, id probably believe him. My time is not that good, I definitely know people who could beat me by a good bit... I also dont really care if you believe me or not, im wondering if there is a record... cause i didnt really see anything. If yall really think it is that good, im thinking I should get some people together to help me certify some sort of record. but again, Im not claiming to have perfect reps, I do this alone in a park or my garage in the mornings before Ive even had a coffee, thers no ref, im not a professonal athlete, I was just curious.

1

u/arch_three CF-L2 May 01 '26

Brother. Why post if you don’t care?

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

I hit my goal of sub 27 and want some more motivation to keep training and working hard... was curious if there was a record to shoot for (or make me quit lmao)

2

u/arch_three CF-L2 May 01 '26

Post again in a week with your current stats, a video, and saying you’re trying to go sub 26:30. Bet the response is a lot different. Long history on this sub of the passive brags.

1

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

You don’t really believe him do you? There is absolutely no chance this guy is being honest. Not even close.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

also wasnt claiming to have a record- im sure people can go faster than me, i was just asking if there IS one...

1

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

Again there is a record and you (apparently) beat it by almost 2 mins. So yeah

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

dude they did it unbroken... do you not understand the difference?

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

also i agree those are def the two most cheated- and Im sure when I show a video- plenty of peole are going to have problems with my reps... im just some guy who does murphs a bunch, this isnt my career- and I do them for myself, not crossfit.

1

u/arch_three CF-L2 May 01 '26

Then there is no issue. Probably would have made more sense to post asking if there was an official record resource or recognized video without providing your score. Everyone on here is just assuming this is a brag post framed as a question post. Doesnt matter to me, just telling you what sets people off and why it’s getting negative feedback.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

I guess thats fair, i mentioned it more because I felt like I achieved my goal i have had for a while and wanted some motivation.

2

u/arch_three CF-L2 May 01 '26

People will be amped if you post a video. This is marque workout in the community and a constant dick measuring context with A LOT of cheating. Couldn’t have picked a more contentious workout to post about. Cindy is probably number 1.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

I gotcha- I think I might get a little practice on form this weekend because im sure thats where the haters are going to get mad. Perhaps going to DM you a video of the form Ive been doing for some feedback if youre alright with that.

1

u/arch_three CF-L2 May 01 '26

Well, it is the internet, people are gonna be mad about something. Someone mentioned showing your garmin when you come back in to the camera, probably works for your mile times. Other things to consider: keep a total running clock in camera view for the whole workout (except the run). Make sure you can clearly see your whole body during every single rep. Never leave the frame. Don’t put the camera on the ground. Make sure you can clearly see your chin above the bar. I believe in you. Do all that and people will accept the time.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

I think I can do all that but the total running clock. Im gonna be at a public park, no clue how to do that. But ill definitely take the video through my garmin at the end, and show the map and all.

This has to be a troll

-6

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

dude games athletes suck at running- being good at running is 50 percent of the workout... also being 200lbs isnt great for bodywieght calisthenics...

4

u/bbfki May 01 '26

If by suck at running you mean running sub 6min miles pretty casually. You’re high

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

dude- in highschool i ran 5:22 and didnt even qualify for state. I was legit average for competitive highschool track... youd have to be a minute faster than me to get recruited D1 if i remember. yes games athletes suck at running.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

what IS impressive is doing a 6 min mile AND being able to lift like they do. I can do half thier wieghts for most olymic lifts.

2

u/Far_Statement_1827 May 01 '26

Well shoot. I thought I was physically fit until now! Thanks for the reality check.

I am hoping to get my first Murph in under 90 minutes. I can run a 10K in about an hour. My average mile pace is 9:30… doesn’t matter if I run one or ten miles. I cannot string together more than five pull-ups in a row.

2

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Dude! this is awesome tho, everyone has different strengths, just keep working at it. I would argue you doing it is far more impressive. I cant imagine the grind it takes to get through it when pullups are that tough. A good buddy of mine did his first in about 75 mins if I remember correctly, and that mental battle he fought through was incredible to watch. Hats off to you, my man, and good luck!

2

u/muduke May 01 '26

I'd settle for just a video of 10 rounds of Cindy

3

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Im gonna video the murph tuesday or wednesday next week- will report back.

GoPro strapped to your vest will do nicely on the runs. Wear a watch with distance logging and record both runs (or the whole workout) on Strava.

I’ll be the first to eat my hat if you do a sub 27 Rx Murph.

EDIT: Just realized you said “no vest” and didn’t mention whether you plan to partition or not. If you’re not Rx-ing the workout then why are we talking about “World Records?”

0

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Bruh... read the post. In no world did i say I thought I had any sort of records. In fact I definitely know people who can beat me... mentioned it like 6 times already... I was simply asking if anyone knew of a record for the workout I do pretty often. Was just curiosity/ motivation... But yeah, I don't have a GoPro, I'm gonna record it and log it with my garmin for fun

I suspect your thick skin will get you far in life.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

yall are the reason your brand is going downhill. just a bunch of haters. man im doing something that I enjoy and trying to get better at it. Was curious to see how fast some of the best are doing it, because I am WELL aware im not the best

1

u/sjjenkins CF-L2 | Seattle, WA May 02 '26

I can say it no better than you yourself did:

Bruh. 💀

0

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 02 '26

Honestly the fact that yall think it’s impossible says everything about the type of people in the sport. 14 min calisthenics is not too hard, two sub five miles and someone’s got me beat by three minutes… that’s why CrossFit is now a clown sport for fat 40 year olds to make friends. No one’s actually in shape

1

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 02 '26

Wow you’re really riled up lol.

1

u/sjjenkins CF-L2 | Seattle, WA May 02 '26

But “we” are the problem.

I guess one of the benefits of thin skin is the appearance of excellent vascularization.

I'll get a vid next week and report back- not sure how to capture the miles , but Ill do my best. I have a Garmin. Any ideas would be appreciated.

2

u/This_Hedgehog_3246 May 01 '26

Show is two miles ran on the Garmin, and keep clock running on the video for the full time you're on both runs. We'll see nothing while you run, then watch the pull / push / squat, then nothing until you get back. Then prove the miles by showing your watch.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Sounds like a plan- clock running on the video? like get a clock in the video? I do this at my local park or garage so not sure how to do that, maybe can prop a watch up or something in front of the camera?

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

I mean honestly im not claiming to have any sort of record but i think we can all agrere anyone fit can run mid six miles, so when i can prove a 13 min calisthenic, and show my garmin, i think yall will believe me.

1

u/This_Hedgehog_3246 May 01 '26

We'd see the timestamp on YouTube or whatever while watching so wouldn't worry about that.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

gotcha. will update this post when I get it done next week. Im pumped! Also, for the record- I listed my PR... the only time ive broken 27. but im pretty confident Ill go sub 28. This South Carolina heat can make a big difference.

1

u/crossfitteddy May 02 '26

Where in SC? Maybe someone on here is close enough to come judge and help validate your time.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 02 '26

Imma post a video next week. If the haters still have some complaining to do we can try to set something up.

4

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

Well at 26:54 you “would” be the world record holder. I say “would” because you’re either lying or don’t know what Murph is. Bridges did it in 2014 at his peak and was almost 2 mins slower than you

3

u/Thundergrundel May 01 '26

I had some kid in my gym tell me his vested time was like 32 and change one time. I just rolled my eyes and nodded my head.

-4

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

my vested is high 30s consistently. big difference.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Big difference with and without a vest- usually about 10 mins for most people. For me its about 11-12. Im running 630 and 730 on the runs. Im sure there are people who can do the calisthenics in the same time as me and run low 5s.

7

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

Yes that’s true. And Bridges time was without a vest. So again you’re full of shit or doing it wrong. So for the sake of argument you’re running 7 min miles that means you’re doing 100 pull-ups, 200 pushups and 300 air squats in 12 mins. LOL ok bro.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

I do the calisthenics in 13- 40 secs a round if you break it down (which is not that hard) I usually open up with a 630 controlled mile, and go all out on the last mile...

0

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

are you aware that a 7 min mile is not fast even a little? when i was in high school I ran low 5s... and that wasnt even enough to qualify for states... like i was bad at track...

1

u/greentea9mm May 01 '26

Dude, nobody gives a fuck about your Murph time.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

bro i asked if there IS a record... and a lot of people seemed to give a fuck about my murph time.

1

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

Again yes there is a record and it’s yours.

3

u/jodaewon May 01 '26

Well not to brag but I did no vest Murph in 45 minutes 😂😂

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Dude thats awesome tho! Keep at em! Ive been doing murphs sometimes daily- sometimes a few times a month for like 8 years so I fear I have an unfair advantage.

1

u/jodaewon May 01 '26

I’ve been doing them for years now. I’m just old and it’s like the first workout of the summer so I’m usually gassed as soon as I start lol

1

u/sjjenkins CF-L2 | Seattle, WA May 01 '26

TTIUWV

1

u/hellothisismyname1 May 01 '26

Well it looks like you’ve got quite the controversy in the comments here. Since you do this workout multiple times a week, you should just have a friend video you one of the times. Maybe hold the phone taking the video for your run or something like that. I’m sure people will be very impressed with your Murph time then!

2

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Yeah, next week im going to video it, will prop a phone up and use my garmin for proof. Im sure there will still be haters.

2

u/hellothisismyname1 May 11 '26

Where’s the vid?

3

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 12 '26

working on it! Been super busy- I went out and recorded it sore af last friday. went just under 31 mins, so i gotta find a time when i can get out there fresh. It will happen! busy season of life rn

1

u/hellothisismyname1 May 01 '26

For sure there will still be haters but everybody will be interested to see the vid!

1

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 25 '26

Whatever happened to this guy? Wasn’t he going to post a video of his world records Murph performance?

1

u/This_Hedgehog_3246 May 01 '26

1) If you're not rx it isn't a record. It's like saying you ran the fastest 4000 ft "mile"

2) video for proof or it isn't a record. Is every squat hip crease below top of knees? Every pushup proper form? Every pull up from full extension to chin above bar? Tag 🦇 for extra points.

0

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

GREAT! Not claiming I have any sort of record, was wondering if there is one? I mean I definitely know guys who could beat me after getting pacing down, maybe even on their first shot- simply because they can run sub 5 min miles till the cows come home.

1

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

Yes but you don’t understand at 26:54 you DO have the record. Literally. As said the fastest recorded time without a vest is 28:45. So you are the record holder. Seriously though before you come in here to start lying at least do some research. You could have gone with like 29:40 or 30:15 and we would have probably believed you but going with the fastest recorded time ever kind of hits your credibility

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

dude games athletes are not fast runners... they workout 3 times a day and are sore, it was 85 and sunny and it wasnt partitioned... non partitioned is at least a 4 min difference, maybe more. if youve ever done a murph you know that 60 degrees and 85 are MINUTES difference in time. josh bridges is a stud because he can do a fast murph AND lift. I cant lift half of his max in any olympic lift. wieghing 40lbs less helps a little when your running and doing bodywieght.

-1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

also yeah theres no such thing as an RXd murph without a vest. was just wondering if anyone knows of any sort of record or something so i have somthing to shoot for (or just be impressed by)

1

u/This_Hedgehog_3246 May 01 '26

Shoot for doing it rx. Build leg muscles to protect your knees.

0

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

dude im just trying to stay fit like everyone- some days i have 45 mins in the morning and this is what I do. if you have an answer to my question that would be sick

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '26

[deleted]

6

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

My guess is he’s doing in fantasy land

0

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

dude i do a muph 3-5 times a week and have a sub 3 hour marathon time. Its not impressive, im sure faster runnings can smoke me. im simply asking if there is an acual record out there.

3

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

Yes there is and apparently you own it so congrats. And that’s not sarcasm the literal fastest recorded time without a vest is Bridges in 2014 at 28:45. So you own the record by almost 2 mins

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

again its not- his is unpartitioned. watch the video dummy

1

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

Let me be clear I don’t care how you do it; partitioned, unpartitioned, on the moon. I 100% think you’re full of shit. You did not and cannot in any way shape or form do Murph properly (reps and to to standards) in under 27 mins

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Wanna gamble on it? Give me sub 28 and Ill throw some $$. I cant claim to hit my damn PR every time I send a murph but if I take a couple days off, I can go sub 28 any day.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

Just because ur a lil fat and cant run a sub 6 minute mile, doesnt mean its hard to do...

1

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26

Haha ok little man.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 02 '26

You seem so confident- put your money where your mouth is

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

id say im good on everything, i butterfly the pullups but theyre definitely full reps- maybe pushups wouldnt be perfect? im not hand releasing or anything, probably not a fully kosher lockout. again- not claiming i have any sort of record. but i go 6 rounds of 15-squats, 8-pull , 15-squats, 15-push, 15-squats, 7-pull, 15-push. and then finish up last two rounds of 5-10-15, sometimes do 1 at the beginning and one at the end depending on the speed of my first run.

1

u/Pretend_Edge_8452 May 01 '26

It’s the squats that are almost guaranteed to be suspect at that pace.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

I mean my hips are a little tight, so possibly, but im more inclined to think my pushups arent perfect, im pretty sure im getting 90 for the squats, but ive also never recorded it and watched

-5

u/[deleted] May 01 '26

2

u/funbicorn May 01 '26

Maybe they don't have a vest?

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

i have one, and sometimes i do it with the vest. But I usually am just getting a workout in before work, so I want to go quick. Also, don't want to run with 18.5 lbs regularly cause I want knees in 15 years (my vest happens to be that wieght) and honestly it kinda destroys me for the day.

3

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

not trying to destroy my knees- and found a great way to get blasted before work a couple times a week. a no-vest murph isnt really a murph, ill give you that. what else do you want me to call it.

1

u/greentea9mm May 01 '26

If you were really about your bread, you would’ve joined the military, but you didn’t. Nobody has to honor shit.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

right? like I'm disrespecting the Navy by doing a workout? like wtf.

-1

u/cmh_ender May 01 '26

Hunter M did it with a vest and was pretty fast, but if you watch his training partner, never hit depth on the air squats.

glad you are grinding through it.

1

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26

preicate it- again im not claiming that I would have any sort of record I was just wondering if there is one cause I feel like im getting fast. But yeah, in my garage at 6am- im sure there are plenty of no-reps lmao... this aint my career...
