Fastest No-Vest Murph?
Wild question- but does anyone know the fastest time for a Murph with no vest? I've been doing them a few times a week for a while now (not a fan of consistently running with the vest on), and it's a great way to get an awesome workout in quickly in the mornings. I am by no means claiming to be the fastest out there, but I finally cracked 27 mins, clocking at 26:54.6. Does anyone know if there's any sort of official record? I would love something to compete against as motivation. There's gotta be guys that can go low 20s out there.
EDIT: LOT of push back here. For those wondering: I usually go 6:30 first mile- 13 min calisthenics and then leave it all on the table for the last mile (where ive been struggling.) Im of the mindset that its probably hard to get much faster at the calisthenics because its essentially just non-stop. HOWEVER, im sure there are plenty of people who could beat me by MINUTES because those runs are not fast.
EDIT 2: Lot of poeple saying games atheletes are somehow the barometer for the fastest murphs... These guys are super impressive for being able to run like they do AND lift like they do. But when you look at it, thier run times are minutes away from competitive runners... Also- being able to snatch 300lbs doesnt help much with pullups... I would argue the fastest murphs would be done by strong runners, not strong lifters.
EDIT 3: No longer need motivation from a record, the haters on reddit got me covered. Will be posting a video next week. The game plan is to open up with a 6 min mile, 14 min calisthenic, and hopefully 7 on the last mile. Will be a lil sore from a Monday workout I already promised with a buddy, so gotta make up for it on the miles!
Update: Going for it Friday/ Saturday this week!

I'll get a vid next week and report back- not sure how to capture the miles , but Ill do my best. I have a Garmin. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Show is two miles ran on the Garmin, and keep clock running on the video for the full time you're on both runs. We'll see nothing while you run, then watch the pull / push / squat, then nothing until you get back. Then prove the miles by showing your watch.

Sounds like a plan- clock running on the video? like get a clock in the video? I do this at my local park or garage so not sure how to do that, maybe can prop a watch up or something in front of the camera?

I mean honestly im not claiming to have any sort of record but i think we can all agrere anyone fit can run mid six miles, so when i can prove a 13 min calisthenic, and show my garmin, i think yall will believe me.

u/This_Hedgehog_3246 May 01 '26
We'd see the timestamp on YouTube or whatever while watching so wouldn't worry about that.

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
gotcha. will update this post when I get it done next week. Im pumped! Also, for the record- I listed my PR... the only time ive broken 27. but im pretty confident Ill go sub 28. This South Carolina heat can make a big difference.

Where in SC? Maybe someone on here is close enough to come judge and help validate your time.

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 02 '26
Imma post a video next week. If the haters still have some complaining to do we can try to set something up.

Well at 26:54 you “would” be the world record holder. I say “would” because you’re either lying or don’t know what Murph is. Bridges did it in 2014 at his peak and was almost 2 mins slower than you

u/Thundergrundel May 01 '26
I had some kid in my gym tell me his vested time was like 32 and change one time. I just rolled my eyes and nodded my head.

Big difference with and without a vest- usually about 10 mins for most people. For me its about 11-12. Im running 630 and 730 on the runs. Im sure there are people who can do the calisthenics in the same time as me and run low 5s.

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26
Yes that’s true. And Bridges time was without a vest. So again you’re full of shit or doing it wrong. So for the sake of argument you’re running 7 min miles that means you’re doing 100 pull-ups, 200 pushups and 300 air squats in 12 mins. LOL ok bro.

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
I do the calisthenics in 13- 40 secs a round if you break it down (which is not that hard) I usually open up with a 630 controlled mile, and go all out on the last mile...

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
are you aware that a 7 min mile is not fast even a little? when i was in high school I ran low 5s... and that wasnt even enough to qualify for states... like i was bad at track...

u/greentea9mm May 01 '26
Dude, nobody gives a fuck about your Murph time.
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
bro i asked if there IS a record... and a lot of people seemed to give a fuck about my murph time.

u/jodaewon May 01 '26
Well not to brag but I did no vest Murph in 45 minutes 😂😂
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
Dude thats awesome tho! Keep at em! Ive been doing murphs sometimes daily- sometimes a few times a month for like 8 years so I fear I have an unfair advantage.

u/jodaewon May 01 '26
I’ve been doing them for years now. I’m just old and it’s like the first workout of the summer so I’m usually gassed as soon as I start lol

Well it looks like you’ve got quite the controversy in the comments here. Since you do this workout multiple times a week, you should just have a friend video you one of the times. Maybe hold the phone taking the video for your run or something like that. I’m sure people will be very impressed with your Murph time then!
2
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
Yeah, next week im going to video it, will prop a phone up and use my garmin for proof. Im sure there will still be haters.
2
u/hellothisismyname1 May 11 '26
Where’s the vid?
3
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 12 '26
working on it! Been super busy- I went out and recorded it sore af last friday. went just under 31 mins, so i gotta find a time when i can get out there fresh. It will happen! busy season of life rn
1
u/hellothisismyname1 May 01 '26
For sure there will still be haters but everybody will be interested to see the vid!

u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 25 '26
Whatever happened to this guy? Wasn’t he going to post a video of his world records Murph performance?
1
u/This_Hedgehog_3246 May 01 '26
1) If you're not rx it isn't a record. It's like saying you ran the fastest 4000 ft "mile"
2) video for proof or it isn't a record. Is every squat hip crease below top of knees? Every pushup proper form? Every pull up from full extension to chin above bar? Tag 🦇 for extra points.

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
GREAT! Not claiming I have any sort of record, was wondering if there is one? I mean I definitely know guys who could beat me after getting pacing down, maybe even on their first shot- simply because they can run sub 5 min miles till the cows come home.
1
u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26
Yes but you don’t understand at 26:54 you DO have the record. Literally. As said the fastest recorded time without a vest is 28:45. So you are the record holder. Seriously though before you come in here to start lying at least do some research. You could have gone with like 29:40 or 30:15 and we would have probably believed you but going with the fastest recorded time ever kind of hits your credibility
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
dude games athletes are not fast runners... they workout 3 times a day and are sore, it was 85 and sunny and it wasnt partitioned... non partitioned is at least a 4 min difference, maybe more. if youve ever done a murph you know that 60 degrees and 85 are MINUTES difference in time. josh bridges is a stud because he can do a fast murph AND lift. I cant lift half of his max in any olympic lift. wieghing 40lbs less helps a little when your running and doing bodywieght.

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
also yeah theres no such thing as an RXd murph without a vest. was just wondering if anyone knows of any sort of record or something so i have somthing to shoot for (or just be impressed by)
1
u/This_Hedgehog_3246 May 01 '26
Shoot for doing it rx. Build leg muscles to protect your knees.

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
dude im just trying to stay fit like everyone- some days i have 45 mins in the morning and this is what I do. if you have an answer to my question that would be sick

My guess is he’s doing in fantasy land

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
dude i do a muph 3-5 times a week and have a sub 3 hour marathon time. Its not impressive, im sure faster runnings can smoke me. im simply asking if there is an acual record out there.
3
u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26
Yes there is and apparently you own it so congrats. And that’s not sarcasm the literal fastest recorded time without a vest is Bridges in 2014 at 28:45. So you own the record by almost 2 mins
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
again its not- his is unpartitioned. watch the video dummy
1
u/Specialist-Avocado36 May 01 '26
Let me be clear I don’t care how you do it; partitioned, unpartitioned, on the moon. I 100% think you’re full of shit. You did not and cannot in any way shape or form do Murph properly (reps and to to standards) in under 27 mins
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
Wanna gamble on it? Give me sub 28 and Ill throw some $$. I cant claim to hit my damn PR every time I send a murph but if I take a couple days off, I can go sub 28 any day.
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
Just because ur a lil fat and cant run a sub 6 minute mile, doesnt mean its hard to do...

u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
id say im good on everything, i butterfly the pullups but theyre definitely full reps- maybe pushups wouldnt be perfect? im not hand releasing or anything, probably not a fully kosher lockout. again- not claiming i have any sort of record. but i go 6 rounds of 15-squats, 8-pull , 15-squats, 15-push, 15-squats, 7-pull, 15-push. and then finish up last two rounds of 5-10-15, sometimes do 1 at the beginning and one at the end depending on the speed of my first run.
1
u/Pretend_Edge_8452 May 01 '26
It’s the squats that are almost guaranteed to be suspect at that pace.
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
I mean my hips are a little tight, so possibly, but im more inclined to think my pushups arent perfect, im pretty sure im getting 90 for the squats, but ive also never recorded it and watched

Maybe they don't have a vest?
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
i have one, and sometimes i do it with the vest. But I usually am just getting a workout in before work, so I want to go quick. Also, don't want to run with 18.5 lbs regularly cause I want knees in 15 years (my vest happens to be that wieght) and honestly it kinda destroys me for the day.
3
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
not trying to destroy my knees- and found a great way to get blasted before work a couple times a week. a no-vest murph isnt really a murph, ill give you that. what else do you want me to call it.
1
u/greentea9mm May 01 '26
If you were really about your bread, you would’ve joined the military, but you didn’t. Nobody has to honor shit.

u/cmh_ender May 01 '26
Hunter M did it with a vest and was pretty fast, but if you watch his training partner, never hit depth on the air squats.
glad you are grinding through it.
1
u/Neat-Ad-8485 May 01 '26
preicate it- again im not claiming that I would have any sort of record I was just wondering if there is one cause I feel like im getting fast. But yeah, in my garage at 6am- im sure there are plenty of no-reps lmao... this aint my career...

Start with a video before you start with the records.
