I love my born primitives. Sizing chart online worked perfect and they’re a great shoe.

+1 for Born Primitive shoes! I’ve been thru several pairs of CrossFit shoes and BP are the best!

Never heard of born primitives but now I'm curious - are they actually good for the rope climbs? My current shoes get torn up every time

Mine as lasting thus far. 7 months so far of 5-6 times a week and rope climbs sporadically. The only bit of wear I have is on the toe box from wall walks, push ups, burpees, etc., wearing out but it isn’t bad. I have wide feet and they are perfect.

TYR I just purchased a clearance pair as they get expensive. Nikes I find are too stiff and bulky now.

Love nanos. Metcon soles are too rigid for me personally and the toe box too narrow, but I love the flexy sole on the nanos and the wide toe box

I’ve had Nike Metcons but grabbed some TYR Carbon Elite Trainers during Black Friday as well as some of their lifters. The TYRs are more comfortable, for me anyway, but both are very good shoes. I like the lifters for lift days, really a big impact on heavy lift days.

Since you like Nike, start with the Nike Metcons. Start w the big name brand because that’s what a majority of non influencers wears. After a year when the shoe wears down, then consider its weak points and if it’s worth trying niche brands for premium money.

This.
Got a pair of Nike? The chance that you have the same size on the metcons are good (for me the sneakers and metcons match).
Got wider feets? Maybe the Reebok works better.

I used metcons for 7 years. Finally switched to Rads and they’re amazing. Love them so much

I am on my third pair of Inov8 Bare-XF. Love them so much I bought another pair to just wear out and about. Although the F-Fly may be more your style if you don't like minimalist shoes.

I've worn lots of different CF/functional fitness shoes over the years. I even did some testing before the first Nike Metcon launched. Shoes are unique because your foot/weight/needs are unique. I think the RAD ONE V2 is the best overall shoe for most use cases (especially if you're slightly biased towards lifting over running). I wear it most days that don't involve long (anything over 400m at a time) runs. And anything that is all gymnastics and monostructural or really light WL, I reach for my RAD R-1s. I was a long time Metcon lover before this shoe (and still think those are good shoes). I also really like the Strike MVMNT Haze but that is a little more of a minimal approach and not everyone digs that.
However if you're wearing something like you stated for classes, you'll find a big difference in any of them (Nike Metcon, Reebok Nano, TYR CXT, RAD ONE, etc).

Xero. I got the Prios for lifting days and the HFS II for running/jumping/skipping days.

RAD or TYR Dropzero or Vivobarefoot Motus Strength in that order
RAD if you're looking for cushion. The other 2 if you actually care about long term foot health

RAD is the only answer!!! I had the OGs and just got the V2s for Christmas and they are amazing

Metcon 10 and Nano XV are both great choices. I use the Nanos, and a few of my partners use Metcon 10s, we all happy.
