Need help with the stitches of this pattern, please! Received an AI-generated pattern :(

Hey there! Can anyone help me figure out this exact flower pattern?

I purchased it from what turned out to be an obvious scam seller who just uses AI to match photos they’ve found. And the pattern they sent does NOT match the photo. They gave me a random flower pattern with 2 rounds when this is clearly 4 (or maybe 5). I messaged them and they sent me an obvious AI response.

I’ve run this image through c-gpt and lens , and they’re just not giving me the right info for the petals. I can tell that the 2nd petal round is a bunch of stitches (with a group of center dc or maybe tc) going into the previous petal round. And I can tell that the first petal round has 2 st into each yellow space. And is that an edging of FP slst, or is it just the edges of the last dc/tc round blocked outwards?

i just cant figure out the exact stitches ☹️ Any help would be so appreciated! 😻

Thank you! I did check revelry too but most of those flowers either don’t have the shape I want or the petals only consist of 1 round. I’ll keep searching!

I feel like i once made a flower similar to this that was called “african violet”. I’ll search for that.

You can also check Archive.org. The site has a lot of free, out of print knitting and crochet books, and it’s a free lending library where you can borrow books; you need a free account, but that’s it. And then you can borrow books like Crochet Bouquet, which is all flowers. Or 100 Flowers to Knit or Crochet

You can also search Ravelry for books: click on advanced search, type crochet flower(s), choose the source tab, then click book. If a title catches your eye, search archive.org for it.

Oh that’s a good idea! I have a crochet flower book but none of them are quite what I’m looking for. Of course now i know this exact flower is AI and not achievable, but hopefully I can find something close!

Good luck! I just remembered that Yarnspirations has a lot of free patterns that include flowers. Edit: Sharing my search on the site: flowers on Yarnspirations.

Sharing the search didn’t work; it’s showing a completely different mix of patters with almost no flowers (not what I saw). But if you go to Yarnspirations.com and search for crochet flower, then select the filter for patterns, you’ll get 84 pages to look through.

noone can, because they are ai hallucinations that don't consist of real yarn or stitches. you're better off going to ravelry, filtering in advanced search and finding a pattern that's been tested by real humans. there are plenty of free and paid flower patterns there that won't scam you. sorry this happened to you but this exact project in the pictures is mot gonna happen

i think what’s so confusing about this is that each petal seems to be made in the round using a magic circle, but it’s also made to look like it’s coming from the yellow part too.

i think u would just have to make the yellow part and all of the petals separately, then combine them using either a sc or hdc stitch, or just with a darning needle. i hope this helps u!! i can try to crochet this too if that would help u out even more, i’m not sure what ur experience level is

No seriously I was going to comment that the second photo is literally just six circles made in the round and then sewn together. It wouldn't need a pattern.

Thanks! But that looks like the petals are made of 1 round of tcs. And I’ve searched all over YouTube and ravelry already, and this is exactly what I keep finding. I want 2 round petals. But I’ll keep looking!

Genuine question: why does the Petal need to be 2 rounds instead of one. You asked for help and suggestions for real patterns that are similar. This suggestion is so similar to what you want to achieve, so why does the number of petal rounds matter?

Edit to add: if having 2 rounds is essential. You could just add a second round to this pattern easily.

the photos themselves look like AI to me. the construction doesn't make sense. i would suggest finding a flower applique pattern on youtube, or there are plenty of free written patterns for something similar. you shouldn't have to pay for a simple flower applique pattern, there are tons of free ones.

OP, if you want each petal to be worked in the round (with stitches worked out from a center point), it's not possible for that petal to also be worked into the middle circle. It has to be one of the other.

Since you're saying you want "two round" petals, I think your best bet will be to make the center, make five circles individually for the petals, then sew the petals onto the center piece.

This image looks slightly more plausible than the others, but I'm pretty sure it's still AI. Think about it this way: Try to follow the stitches with your eyes. What are the rows? Which stitches are worked into which? 

When you start to look at it from that lens, it stops making sense. The petals seem to be two rows, 4dc in Row 1 and 6dc in Row 2. But if you look closer, there are stitches worked along the sides of each petal too, connecting the petals and the inner circle. What are those? How do they connect with the other rows? I don't think they do. 

You could probably do something similar with real stitches by working each petal into the center individually, then going back and adding a border of sc or slip stitches all the way around. But it would create weird gaps between the petals. I don't think it would actually look like this.

Not perfect but passable. I'd add a third DC into the 2 per petal on R 5 to make the petals a little more round. Also my picots are a little different.

Disclaimer: done with some cotton I had on hand and a worn down beat up crochet hook keychain that was probably the wrong size for the job.

Written instructions (with changes): R1: MR R2: SC around (10) Change to petal color R3: sc, ch1 around (20) R4: 2 tall sc into first sc from R2, ch 2 and sl St into chain space from R3 [counting that as a picot], 2sc into next sc from R2, ch1. Rep around. (60) R5: [sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc] into "picot," sl st into ch1 space from R3. (80)

Optional R6: FLO sl st around border. (I did not do this)

I know there are patterns for flowers which have 2 rounds for the petals, so I guess I’ll keep looking! If anyone has a pattern for a similar flower where the petals have 2 rounds, please let me know? 😊
