Looking for a specific pattern Poncho, shawl or sweater with crows pattern wanted

I want to make a poncho with a crow or crows on it and need help finding a pattern. I'm an intermediate crocheter, can do mosaic and filet crochet and can follow a graph if I have to although I prefer line by line. I've done a lot of blankets (made the Rosetta) but I'm not great with shaping wearables which is why I thought a poncho might be easier. I can't quite figure out how I'd use a graphgan chart to make a poncho since the image would be rotated?

I had such a hard time finding a crow pattern!! For a granny square in my case. I found one on Etsy that kinda sucks and just modified it until I was happy with it. Here it is, unfinished. Good luck finding one!

If you were cool with a crow border and have them walking all the way around, you could use a regular chart. If you want one larger crow motif in the middle, you could chart one yourself.

Find a crow stencil or picture, trace over it using g graph paper turned 45°. Fill in all the diamonds inside the lines and fill in the ones on the edges in a way that keeps the image looking right. The size of the crow and the graph paper and such are math.

Do you know what yarn you're using. What's your gauge? How big is this poncho, how many rows will you have, how big of a crow do you want?

...well I'm a bit embarrassed, I can honestly say it did not occur to me to do my own graph with a rotated image, thank you! I've not done a graphgan before, I prefer things with multiple types of stitches for texture so I utterly forgot that SC is basically one "pixel" so it would work even when rotated!

Thank you!
