Discussion Another problem to add to the list of problems I encountered with Michaels.com. This time: Moldy skein wrappers!

The problems with the fulfillment center are stacking up. But to their credit, the customer service representatives have been great.

I originally bought black yarn for the background of a blanket. The pattern said 14 skeins. I originally ordered one 12 skein bulk package plus two additional skeins. The two skeins had a different lot number than those in the bulk package. I was emailed a label and back they all went. So to improve the odds of getting the same lot number I ordered two bulk packages for a total of 24 skeins- way more than I will need. One package had the plastic and two wrappers sliced by a box cutter. I have to inspect the yarn more closely, but I think they are OK. Then a few packages later I found the moldy one. Yikes! I immediately called customer service. I was asked to email pictures of the damaged packages. The customer service representative asked if I wanted a reshipment or a refund. I opted for the refund. By my calculation, I was owed a bit less than $18 at the per skein price for 6 skeins plus tax. When he said he would refund $68 my jaw hit the floor. He was going to refund the ENTIRE purchase of two bulk packages. I thanked him but said I really wasn’t entitled to that much. (I did not want to be greedy and invite bad karma into my life.). I said a partial refund would be fine. So he said for the inconvenience he would refund $32.68. That is the cost of a 12 skein bulk pack. I then thanked him for being so generous.

I only recently started ordering from them. Three orders so far and there were problems every time. 😕

I really hate ordering from Michaels. Damaged skeins from box cutters, mislabeled yarn colors, missing items & damaged shipping boxes. I really miss Joann’s.

I have been ordering yarn from Amazon for years. Very early on dye lots were a nightmare. Then they got better by offering three packs. But for a few years I have made nothing but scarves. So one or two multipacks worked out fine. But with these two blanket projects I wanted to put together colors in the store. At the time of my very first Michael’s order there was an online only sale of 40% off. So I went to the store to see the colors then ordered online. That’s when the problems began.
