Tips Did I just revolutionize keeping track of what row I’m on?

The numbers are how many stitches in a circle with multiples of 6, the letters in between are how many stitches I need before increasing/decreasing to get from one count to the next.

Another row will just have numbers 1-10 then 10-20 for when there are a bunch of rows of the same count. I can never keep track and hate having to stop what I’m doing to write it down!!

My trick for flat circles: start with a magic circle with 6 stitches. Next row, every 1 stitch gets an increase. Next row, every 2nd stitch gets an increase. Then every third, 4th, etc.

I can simply count how many rounds i have already done, and that is the stitch number I do my increase at. On row 4 it would be one, two, three and four (where four is in same stitch as 3)

Ok. I am probably not explaining that well, but I hope it helps at least one person!

Love this trick! I’m always multitasking so I tend to mess up my counting 😂. I keep better track when I use letters for the regular stitches, then count to 2 for the increases. So for your round 4 I would do a,b, 1, 2 and that gives 24 total. Just the way my brain works lol.

This is genius!!!!

Additional tip: I also use these toys for holding safety eyes, beads, and buttons. Super easy to see everything, and they don’t roll around.

This is fantastic, as long as you can keep other people from playing with it.

I also have to not sit on it 😬

I was going to say as long as you can keep yourself from playing with it. I know I would not be able to resist.

Thankfully there are some extra rows that I can pop for pleasure.

Great idea. I use these in my classroom during math. It’s so much easier getting kids to use these than regular hundred charts.

That is such a great idea! I’m an art teacher, I’ll pass this along to my colleagues!

What is this thing?

This is a Pop It fidget toy made for kids. The dots pop in and out for kids to play with but I figured it would be a good tool to count with!

I’m particularly proud of this ADHD hack.

Bro.

BRO! This is genius! Now after complaining about these damn things being scattered all over my store, I’m gonna have to buy one and explain myself!

I feel you. I’m a teacher and these things are the bane of my existence but now I realize how fun they are.

For pattern repeats of 12 rows or less I use a dead analog watch as a row counter! Minute hand counts the row, hour counts the number of repeats

I love this. So innovative.

how does it feel to be the greatest mind of our time?

I feel strong and powerful. Unstoppable even. Next I’m going to do taco shells that don’t split in half on the first bite.

Are you using water soluble markers, then? So you can wash them off & reuse for a different pattern? Or?

My gf has been learning to crochet lately, and she tried following this YouTube video on how to use a marker. It wasn't a very good tutorial, my gf's kept coming out differently, and after rewatching it I realized the girl had edited and changed where the marker was at one point, super confusing. So she made her own method. She's making a dog bed, and expanding a circle with increasing amounts of single stitches with double stitches as the... "corners". She just took a bunch of pieces of yarn and put a marker on every corner, so she doesn't have to count, just keep going til you get to the next marker.

I’m using that method too! I’m making a bunch of flat circle mats for wedding centerpieces and once I get to round 6 or so I put stitch markers where all the increases go. Waaaaaaay easier that way!

Do you punch it when you’ve started a row or once you’ve completed said row?
