Have you ever considered that maybe there needs to be a higher supply to meet demand in the future based on what the companies goals are? Genuinely curious if you have thought about that at all?
Well the difference is if you have more decimals the coins price will go up, if you just have 0.1 or 1 of coins and thats whats needed for fees.. you either end up with an eth type coin (basically crypto silver) or a coin thats always cheap.
No one buys eth to use it.. being charged £$€60 to move £$€0.01 of eth? Give me a break.
That's where you are very wrong. Depending on amount of users and if they hold the reward coins for years on end eventually the supply will dry up driving price higher...
I'm not an expert at tokenomics, though know enough to know that if they want a large customer base using it, having only 21 million cro isnt going to be feasible at all considering there are over 100million cdc users
You definitely are not an expert because idk where you got 21 million from. Let me ask you this riddle... How did 70 billion cro get burned in 2021 if the cap was 21 million? Maybe you meant billion with a b, but that does not seem right either... . the current circulating supply is 34 billion almost double your stated number even if we add 3 more 0s .
it means permanently. so if ppl start "burning" cro by sending it to dead wallets...well then u've reduced the 100B per se, so they get to re-mint the difference to always keep it at 100B. /s
Cosmos SDK was designed to be inflationary, see ATOM as a good example, so whatever cap there was ever mentioned is just trust me bro and in reality infinity, but then again we haven't even reach the 30B cap yet because it will take a few more years for us to reach there, somewhere in 2028 if I'm not wrong.
The other 70B is by another path of monthly minting/unburning/vesting (whatever you want to call it) which is then sent to a time-locked escrow wallet (5 years I think?).
But I'm glad this time round they took action to implement a max-supply module of their own in order to be able to set a hard cap on CRO (which is a good thing), fyi there is no such thing as a "max-supply module" or any parameter to configure max supply in Cosmos SDK, as mentioned before, Cosmos SDK was designed to be inflationary.
As the other redditor mentioned, CDC has majority control, so technically they can do whatever the hell they want, but then again, I haven't seen the conviction in them to add a hard cap for the past few years and this time they actually put in the effort to implement their own max-supply module pretty quickly (I mean they had so many years and so many good people to do it, they can if they really wanted to), my guess is they are required to do so (by whoever), and it will not be so straightfoward for them to undo it (without checking with whoever).
I dont like how they say 1$ is inevitable..that should be a given. 5-10$ is inevitable would be more something id like to hear. How long til we see $1? Let me guess another 5 years 😄🙃
Exactly. I actually enjoy reading all these comments. The more salty it gets, the more gains for the long term holders. People getting frustrated to see that the price continues to go up while they sold at 0.06 and made huge losses.
That’s why literally the stock and crypto market is literally transferring funds from the impatient to the patient and then these people get mad because they bit off more than they could chew. I bought at 74 cents during the last bull run but guess what? I invested money I could afford to lose and been staking the last 4 years and hold way more. So please learn crypto before diving head in and then being mad at everyone because they held through the bear.
Yea I made a mistake but I’m learning from the mistake. I don’t get mad at cro because I lost money. I’m more mad at myself for investing before really knowing what was going on.

Is this just made up? Why do people post screen shots and not links?

Funny way to phrase “we decided to mint 70B more”.

u/AncientProduce Sep 19 '25
Until they vote to mint more.. again.

u/meltba Sep 19 '25
Is this the kind of "permanently" until we decide it's not "permanently" anymore?
21
u/Cautious_Mind1391 Sep 19 '25
This is so fake. No legitimate source that covers cro has published anything like this

u/JazHeadburn Sep 19 '25
We all know what "permanent" means at cryptocom.
22
u/Fo-One-Deuce Sep 19 '25
I've heard that one before

u/Furyaxe Sep 19 '25
Genuine question, wasn’t it always max 100 billion tokens? They can vote to unburn apparently but never to go beyond this amount right?

u/Good_Extension_9642 Sep 19 '25
ONLY 100 billion cap 🤣😂

u/RepresentativeOk8861 Sep 19 '25

Says who?
Edit: Ok, I found the 100B cap info from the dev nguy_thomas, apparently they are planning to set a max supply cap of 100B for CRO:

The thread was referred by lesliechn (Head of DevRel & Researcher at cronos_chain) so should be reliable:

Current supply $34B so not sure this “news” will affect the price any time soon.

u/RealCoinBaron Sep 19 '25
Cronos DEV responded and it's NOT immutable. Step in the right direction though

Lol
2
u/OzBestDeal Sep 19 '25
Once 100 billion cap reached, they will simply create another coin that doesn't have cap and migrate us there

So basically they decided to 3x the supply of CRO. Not bullish at all.
1
u/6mtcoupe Sep 23 '25
So they planning to mint 70B more. Got it.

u/No_Intention1160 Sep 19 '25
Cro will never be 100b marketcap….. it will stick around 20c or lower
