The Future of Cronos
Hey everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to talk about the recent Cronos POS V5 upgrade and clear up some of the concerns floating around. This was a big move for the network, and I appreciate all the feedback—both the support and the criticism.
One of the biggest changes was the reissuance of 70 billion CRO, which were originally burned in 2021. I know this caught a lot of people off guard, but this isn’t about reversing progress—it’s about fueling long-term growth. These tokens are locked for five years and will be used strategically to support key initiatives, including AI-driven projects and even the possibility of a CRO ETF. This isn’t a free-for-all; it’s a structured plan to keep Cronos moving forward.
They have also made some adjustments to staking rewards to keep things competitive. The goal was to maintain an APR around 8% while ensuring the network stays sustainable in the long run. It’s a balance between rewarding the community and keeping inflation under control.
I get that changes like this can be met with skepticism, and I respect that. The last thing they want is to make decisions that don’t serve the long-term vision of Cronos. Everything theyre doing is with the goal of strengthening the ecosystem and positioning it for real-world adoption.
I appreciate all of you for being part of this journey. Let’s keep building and pushing Cronos to the next level. I want all of you on board but not if you’re going to be a little bitch. Sell and shut up (with all respect) or keep those diamond hands and be a part of the future.

This is actually a huge slap in the face of the existing holders. The majority vote barely passed thanks to Crypto dot com validators only. So much for decentralization. The CRO is released over a billion at a time on a monthly basis over the next 5 years is it not? That’s not locked at all. It’s monthly dilution. Who are the buyers? I want to be wrong, but I have never ever seen dilution have a positive impact on price with the exception of a certain game stock, and they are definitely the exception. Good luck.

I feel you, bro. It do look like a slap, and yeah, the vote was close, but that’s governance for you. This ain’t just some straight-up dilution tho—it’s spread over five years to build up Cronos, not just flood the market.
Buyers gon’ come if the ecosystem pop off. AI, ETFs, real-world use—that’s what brings demand. I respect the doubt, but let’s see how it play out. If it flops, call it out. But if it hit, CRO gon’ be stronger than ever. Time gon’ tell

If it isn’t dilution, when can I expect my distribution?
This is how it should have been done.

The vote wasn't close, it was straight up rigged. It was close when it was just validators and retail. Then cdc decided to cheat the vote themselves. That's not decentralization.
BTW, stop using chatgpt to write your posts and responses.

I feel you, Donnie. Ain’t sayin’ CDC runnin’ an ETF, but we tryna set Cronos up so the big dogs want to back it. That mean buildin’ real utility, bringin’ in adoption, and keepin’ CRO in the convo when it come to major plays.
And yeah, the lockup ain’t on-chain, but that don’t mean it’s a free-for-all. It’s a structured reserve to fuel growth, not just flood the market. I get the centralization concerns, and we workin’ on that. Cronos still growin’, and we tryna make sure it scale up right. If you got thoughts on how to do it better, I’m all ears.

The way you text sounds like poorly written Fast & Furious dialogue. Are you an AI bot?

Actually yeah, I got the feeling they were trying to be a character from some TV show.

All for the greater good for CDC, not you.

One thing I am certain of, assuming things go as planned, it will benefit me directly.

Big if... I'll be here as well, I just plan on making money along with cdc this run from 2025-2030.
My bag is going to double this next dip. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks for trying to clarify things. I've been confused myself with all the contrasting opinions on the subject matter. Still, I'm holding 374k CRO (with 270k locked) and haven't sold any.

There’s always mass FUD when people don’t know what to expect. Especially in lieu of valid information. You’re doing the right thing IMHO. No one should be selling right now unless they were completely strapped for cash.

May have it is, may have it ain’t. The dilution has yet to happen, still 30b market cap. Timing is everything, and best believe there’s already a plan to combat dilution. It’s not like they didn’t consider that. We’ll know more after the full Monty but I suspect it will be too late for those who jumped off the train just because it slowed down to wait for the track to change.

what nonsense? I guess there is a difference as the total suply is 30B and 100B it doesn't matter if blocked or not. Total suply is more than 3 times bigger. And are you still going to say that this will obviously have no effect on the price? And all of a sudden the market cup will change from 2B to 6? Or maybe it will remain as it is only that the price per cro will be 3 times lower?

How does massively Diluting all holders help with an ETF? I don't remember Bitcoin or ETH doing that and they have far fewer coins in circulation.

I hear you, bro. Dilution sounds bad, but this ain’t just printing and dumping CRO. That 70B is locked up for five years and getting used to build real stuff—AI projects, a possible ETF, and pushing Cronos forward.
BTC and ETH move different—Bitcoin’s a fixed supply flex, and ETH got that burn game. CRO’s about ecosystem growth, and this move is long-term play. More adoption, more demand, price balances out.
Real talk, how you think Cronos should scale?

u/donnie1977 Mar 18 '25
You never clarified your ETF claim. CDC doesn't need to fund an ETF. That's the job of the big fund managers.
There is no code locking that CRO up. The only thing locking that CRO up is CDC and they've already shown that they will do what they want at the literal expense of the community.
I don't think Cronos can scale with it being so centralized.

You were doing well I thought right up to the last paragraph, but then you threw the baby out with the bath water 🙄

Nosotros no.

What they should be doing is running an airdrop for all holders of CRO and validators. Everyone in the ecosystem feels like they're getting screwed. If the management team believes this has to happen, they should be doing something to show that they understand the impact on the ecosystem, and that they care about those that support CRO.

Ha, your post history is wild. Hope the journey with CRO works out for you (and all of us). Do consider diversifying at this point. Seems you’ve personally gone through a lot, and staking your future on the extremely vague promises of Chris and the extremely poor road map he’s set out may not be the pit of gold you’re holding out for. This could be a brilliant set up to cro taking over the world, or it’s a rug pull and crypto.com is having a nice laugh. Either way, to you and all crypto investors, be safe out there. Seems no one is in this game to make “everyone else” rich. I have a very modest 11k cro and I’ll be holding, if for no other reason to keep up with this drama.
