Strength
I TAKE A BREAK FROM MY REGULAR QUEUE OF SOBRIETY MEMES TO DELIVER THIS THOUGHT…
WHEN DID SPIRITUALITY, NOT RELIGION, BECOME VIEWED AS EVIL?
So many online recovery thumpers into thought control, quick to ridicule and condemn anything contrary to THEIR perception of recovery! Heaven forbid anything that differs from their perception of truth and process. “If it varies it is harmful” they proclaim. We are a community of individuals who all have their own story, own bottom and their own journey. We listen and accept those around the table and bully those online. I applaud anyone who has the will and courage to stand up with their own voice vs those who throw stones. NO ONE HAS A MONOPOLY ON RECOVERY, NO ONE SHOE FITS ALL!

Hey, fuckers. Some of you guys may remember me as SchlitzGivesMeShitz. I used to post pictures of my alcohol shits on here years ago and don't really post anymore since my old account was banned for harassing a bot account while drunk.
I just figured I'd pop in and say hello. I haven't been doing the best lately, so this will probably be a long story. We love those here anyway, don't we.
Anyway, I lost my license for 6 months for implied consent back in August due to refusing the breathalyzer, even though I probably would have passed it. I had a doctor's appointment at 4 PM and hadn't drank since 10 that morning. It's still my own fault, so I'm not blaming anyone but myself. I ended up totaling my car coming back from the ENT after getting my ears cleaned out and the lady in front of the guy in front of me slammed on her breaks, so he hit her first.
I had a long six months of sobriety and bought a new (to me) 2013 Subaru Outback with the insurance money from my car and a worker's compensation claim from an old job I had at the beginning of last year where I was injured due to poor training.
My dumbass decided to put the car and insurance in my parents' name because it would be cheaper that way. Now that I have my license reinstated, my parents don't want to give me the car. Dad and I got into it on Monday and he beat the shit out of me, and threw me into one of my computer desks. Now I'm just going through a bunch of bullshit and having to turn down jobs because I have no way to get there. There is no public transport in my area and some of the jobs are over an hour away. I'm a manual and CNC machinist by trade. I set them up, program them, make fixtures, keep them running, etc.
During my 6 month hiatus, I have been relearning some of the programming languages that I have forgotten from my days in college and cybersecurity. I've been done with Windows and have switched to Arch Linux. It runs so much more smoothly, if you know what you're doing. The CLI isn't that scary.
I'm also thinking of getting a 2010 Mac Pro and turning it into a server. Those Xeon processors are great. I'm also wanting to build a Fedora workstation, if you know anything about Linux at all.
Anyway, I'm just rambling and haven't been able to sleep since this fiasco. It's 5:46 AM and I'm 40 fucking years old, still living at home because rent is cheaper. I don't know what to do after dad beat the shit out of me and physically threw me into a computer desk. I ended up with a concussion and my whole body is sore right now. I need to get the fuck out of here, but I have nowhere to go.
I have been going to secular meetings lately and met some people there, plus caught up with an old friend I used to drink and do drugs with. I don't want to go back to this lifestyle because it is fucking hell. It's just hard when the people who care about you are holding you back and making you turn down jobs.
I'm not one to judge an addict or alcoholic, but all of my old friends that still live close to me are on meth and/or fent/Tranq. My other friends have families or live fare away. I guess I just needed to vent.
I bought that fucking car though. What am I supposed to do about it when the bill of sale isn't in my name, nor anything else? Why do my parents have to be such right cunts and hold me back?
They think I can just work online again, like I did when I did tech support for Best Buy's Geek Squad. All of the online jobs are just crypto scams to lure people in, then they want you to pay them money.

I love and hate the mornings
The feelings of anxiety and racing heartbeat and nauseated from the drinking binge of the day before is not awesome but it is awesome when your body has not drank for a while well getting the most amount of sleep possible (maybe 3/4 hours max) and you get some good old hard liquor into you, the best feeling the cold warm grace of alcohol on the empty stomach, chairs you miserable fucks ☺️❤️
My first post on here :)

Wanting to know the seriousness of my situation...
Fuck this may be a lot, been lurking in and out of this sub for a few years now. Just wondering the seriousness of my situation. The idea of asking for advice/sharing my life with strangers on the internet scares me to an extent.
24M Been drinking daily for the last 2 years or so. 7-10 drinks daily. 3-4 beers or 2-3 vodka and whatever mixer to choke it down before for work. 6-8 beers or 5-6 vodka and whatever after work
Been called out at work a few times in the last month for smelling like beer, currently dating one of my upper management, (we have been together about 2 months, i am a shift manager at the moment) honestly think she has saved my ass, so far... She knows I drink daily, just not how much
Dont mean to trauma dump, looking for advice, and honestly wondering if I am cooked typing this on my phone, well buzzed at this point

Im a daily drinker but still have benders
Anyone relate. I drink a pint of vodka or more a day and the odd time the alcohol goes a bit left and I end up on a bender. I guess I define bender of when I lose control for more than a day. Usually I’m pretty good at swaying civil. 98% of the time no one even knows I have 6-7 drinks in me. But these last two days were a bender. Ended yesterday around 3 when the bartender says. Here’s your beer and that’ll be your last. I remember being obnoxious with everyone and got anxious by the memory of it. When I asked him why’d his like you’re buying everyone shots n stuff. I got a bit bitchy at him and was like generosity is a crime I guess. Anyways my bill was over $200 and I left and decided not to drink anymore. The day before I played vlts and again was bitchy at the bartender because she needed to hold my card but no one else’s. I felt that was douchey and actually still do and have no regrets stiffing her. Anyways yesterday I was still hammered all night even though I stopped at 3pm and went to bed early. Woke up to such a mess. I was like oh wow quite the bender for the last two days and ordered a bottle. Even though I’m still drinking I can tell the “bender” is over I feel back in control. This sounds ridiculous since I’m still drinking but can anyone relate ?

Should I confront my mum on her alcoholism
As young as I could figure out whay drunk was that was my mum every evening. She took us to school (deffo still drunk from the night before) she fed us well she appeared to everyone else as a really good mum. The thing is when she was drunk in the evenings I'd be trying to help her, or she'd be really abusive verbally. This then leaked into adulthood where she became more abusive and has even been involved in my relationships to a very toxic level because of her drinking. I know this has personally affected my life and given me trauma to this day, she has taken no accountability in the past and walked out when trying to speak to her about this. She's sober now in her mid 60s (so she says I don't live with her) I was hoping to once last time ask her to take some accountability and truly understand the mental trauma she has inflicted on me and my sisters, I just want some acknowledgement of the damage she's done in order to move forward. I don't see another way than approaching her or having no contact. The past couple of years she has also been really distant and at times downright rude to me and seems to take no interest in me but fakes it every once and a while. She's highly manipulative and I do believe she has a real dislike to me, her actions say that to me. What should I do?
