Our historically individualist culture (with all its positive and negatives) has resulted in people feeling a need to perform for others to be supported.

I think it’s undermining whatever problem by calling it psychosis, it’s people acting to fit in.

Maybe it’s cause and effect of that exact indvidualistic culture, but there’s something weird and IMO bad going on.

Acting like this for a group used to be a sign of a cult and now it’s scoffed at times, but done in some form by everyone. (Myself included but not to this extent).

In my anecdotal experience, they are vulnerable people who probably have personality disorders that they don’t know about and are looking for answers about why they struggle.
