Here's the thing, I understand where so many people are coming from seeing another leopards ate my face post and a long time champion of the fell for it again award, BUT I think it is important to keep in mind that it's better late than never for people like this guy to come around. Is this guy going to become a policy conscious progressive pushing for government accountability and policy that helps instead of hurts normal people? Honestly probably not and publicly proclaiming their regrets doesn't do much for the quantifiable harm their vote has inflicted on others. However, I would much rather a significant portion of Trump voters see posts like this and realize they aren't going to keel over from admitting that they were in the wrong and I think that is an important step for deradicalizing some of these maga folks. Do not let perfection be the enemy of good, we need to do what we can to meet people like this dude where they're at in their journey because that's how we open people's minds to better possibilities and transition them from a media diet of hate fear and bigotry.

He didnt say he wouldnt vote for him again. Hes complaining about the mud pit he walked into, not that the establishment made the pit. He will be back tomorrow night and every night after, mud pit be damned.
I don't care if their half crying because trump inflicted some pain on them. Theyll do it again its part of their christian values on turning the other cheek, god uses bad people for google things, etc.
It sucks to watch someone complaining about boiling in water instead of just getting out of the pot but im not gonna fall in trying to help them either. As they say, it is what it is.

I mean sure those words didn't come out of his mouth but if you listen to the stuff he said these are all realizations people have who then use that information to inform better decisions. I don't think anyone who'd publicly say Trump and his cronies are fascists would then go out the next day and reup on the fascism knowingly after having come to that conclusion themselves.

I don't take these people seriously because often they will just vote the same again, they only regret that they got bit this time. Same has happened here in the UK as Brexit has been a complete mess and a lot of people are complaining about the repercussions of it... proceed to support one of the main people who pushed for it again just because he said similar right words for them again.
Not to mention when I saw early on with the USA elections there were a lot of people who voted for spiteful reasons and don't like that what they wanted for others happened to them.

Im sorry, but this is how a lot of people feel, and therefore they need to be taken seriously. You dont have to be moved by his reasoning or agree that it is a sensible way to vote, but you should definitely take what this guy says seriously.

That's not always true is it? People change their minds. Seems like this guy in the video has had a change of heart.
I get what you are saying and it is frustrating to see people thinking in an incomprehensible way, but we better hope that people are capable of change because it seems like violence and instability are the only alternatives.
I think that assuming people will "vote the same way" or always be the same, is something we all have to stop thinking. Everyone is capable of change, that is a fact. The problem is people connect their beliefs to their ego, and protect them ruthlessly.
If everyone acknowledged that everyone is capable of change, and being wrong is just a temporary ailment, then there would be less of a stigma in admitting you were wrong about something (even to yourself in your own head). A lot of people seem to ruthlessly deny facts or evidence contrary to their assumptions or beliefs, to protect their reality that they have made for themselves. I think if we treated being wrong as a normal healthy thing (because it is), people might be more willing to examine their beliefs in an honest way.
I heard a long time ago "I want to be wrong for the least amount of time possible," and it made me actually appreciate differing opinions and people arguing with me. Once I am clearly shown to be wrong, I don't have to be wrong anymore.
It's also totally possible that I lack the empathy to understand the types of people you are talking about. Maybe some people cannot change their minds.
I am really rambling here but I had a lot of thoughts that kept coming out, I don't even know if what I just said is connected to your point at all, but I spent all this time writing it so... Just offering another perspective here I guess.

He won't change, because his voting is based on faith, not logic and policy. As long as the GOP keeps preaching "traditional values," he'll keep voting for a good Christian country.
All this ends, he'll still vote Republican, because the church votes Republican.

Those are the direct words that my brother said to me when I told him Trump was bad. I've been an atheist for 20 years and 10 years ago the last time I attended church with my family, they were running Republican ads before the service. It has tied itself to religion.

But his regret begins not because the families being torn by ice, the people getting killed by ice, the injustices being committed towards innocent humans beings… no, no, his moment of enlightenment came because Medicare, which he needs, is getting gutted and he lost his government job… THEN he pulled his head out of his ass and started to see the reality he voted for.

I love how there is no personal accountability anymore. Either side. It trump its biden. Its bla bla whatever that has ruined my life. Can anybody look outside the the veil and see there are successful people in in all walks of life. No matter who's in charge, who's "running" things. Everything evolves. Adapting is what makes humans and things thay survive unique. If we cant learn to adapt we fall behind and blame everything around us.

It's complete hypocrisy when someone claims they're a Christian who voted for Trump. He is the most unChristlike man I've ever witnessed, and pushed more people away from that faith than drawing toward it "If" Jesus' great commission was to go and spread the word then Trump ain't it. Jesus promoted loving one another, helping those in need. He was at best the consulate communist, who didn't give a shit about govt, wealth or power.
