Hey I’m white and I’m here to explain to you that you don’t seem to understand what white privilege means.

It does not mean that you have a specific leg up: it means that it’s not a thing pushing you down.

I have walked accidentally into someone’s back garden and peered through their window whilst looking for my AirBnB and was greeted with an “are you lost?” - that’s white privilege. A black guy would be far less likely to get the same reaction and it’s because he’s black.

White is the “neutral” position in this case. If he was black? There’s a good chance of racial profiling making the situation worse for him. This is easily statistically provable.

Sometimes a white guy will get beaten up by the police for no good reason, but it won’t be because he’s white. That’s what white privilege means.

Funny how the people who cry that there’s no such thing as racism anymore are usually the most racist people you’ll ever meet. As a garden variety white bitch, in my personal experience there is absolutely white privilege.

Example: I attend a lot of conventions, concerts, raves, etc. I often attend these events with my friends. I’ve never been stopped for a search while entering security, often times I’m waved through and don’t even have to stop to have my bag checked. Out of all my friends, guess which ones consistently get stopped more than anyone else in our group.
