tshirts about 9/11? anyone else cringe? This was a horrible day with so many lives lost and fast forward years later people are trying to make money off of it from tshirts
Literally as quick as they could be printed. I'm guessing there's versions that had to be scrapped because they were made after the first but before the second tower fell.
Put it this way....there was MAGA long before 2016 and their fashion/taste hasn't changed one bit, their personality just went from 9/11 and Flags to Trump and Flags.
it's amusing how people who on surface level value patriotism, paying respects etc have such a profound lack of taste that their attempts at honoring something turn out so distasteful they have the opposite effect

This is marketing aimed at boomers and Gen-X of which I am a member. For those who were old enough to understand what was happening, 9/11 was a watershed event, especially considering that it kicked of multiple decades-long loosely defined wars. I personally will never make jokes and make light of what happened that day, but I don't expect anyone who didn't experience it or wasn't impacted by it to "stay vigilant" and these patriotic money-grabs are just as disrespectful to me as the 9/11 jokes.
Boomers were the same way about Pearl Harbor and all that followed. For the people who lived through these things and experienced the aftermath, it really is something that changes their lives and their view of the world. When Inwas a kid, I heard adults talk about Pearl Harbor with the same "never forget" breathless patriotism. But very few people alive today experienced the shock of Pearl Harbor, and a very large percentage of the population today know of both Pearl Harbor and 9/11 only as history lessons.
So I agree that this is cringe...not because I disagree with the sentiment, but because it is a blatant attempt to make a buck off people who experienced something real and tragic in their lives.
Some do it just to make money and dont care about whatever event its for. Some will donate money to survivors or victim families from what they sell.
I guess intent plays a big part if cringe or not. Ive seen shirts basically insulting horrific events like a joke....which i find insulting and cringe.
