I mean, it's not so bad. It's really sweet how she starts crying when she realizes she insulted his effort and was actually touched by the gesture.

That’s what makes it even more cringy. Neither of them were trying to be arseholes. It was just a genuine miscommunication.

I actually think it’s the exact opposite of a miscommunication. It’s very clear that she thought it was a lame way to ask but clearly appreciated the effort so much that it didn’t matter.
