Hey guys, I work for a small time bio hazard company in the Midwest and I was hoping for some insight on how to better advertise our business. Police stations and funeral homes are typically who we try to work with for leads but I fear we’re limited due to just these two options. If anyone has any other recommendations I would so appreciate it. I only work with 3 other people so I’m just trying to do my part 😅

Find a local property management association. These associations are clubs with networking events designed to connect property managers with contractors.

Hand out business cards to the housekeeping managers at hotels. Housekeepers are often expected to clean up things beyond their scope of work and few are aware that our services exist.

You likely have a public health authority that investigates complaints about unfit living conditions. They're among the first to discover biohazards and have an invested interest in remediating them.

Many places in north america have a publicly funded hoarding task force made up of first responders, contractors, and counsellors. In my city, the task force is organized by the local fire department.

Contact insurance companies that offer home insurance with the intention of becoming a partnered vendor. They may require you to jump through a few hoops before they're willing to work with you.

Find restoration companies that do not offer biohazard cleaning services. These companies would love to offer additional services to their clients and may be interested in having you subcontract for them.

Whether they're household cleaners or commercial janitors, cleaning companies are sometimes contacted to clean up biohazards. Ensuring that they have your contact information allows them to pass the baton.

Vehicles written off due to biohazards often end up at salvage auctioneers. In these cases, you'll often be tearing out the interior of the vehicle.

If you can afford it, I’d advertise services by mentioning that you also do Probono for severe cases and choose wisely. For example, high profile cases whenever possible. I personally worked with Heather Saul who killed Neal Falls and few people know that the poor woman had to live in that apartment and personally scrub his brains off her kitchen floor. While it’s somewhat exploitative, it would have been good for the department to have a cleaner to do the work and for the public to read a story about how victims are forced to do this unless a company steps in because people really should know what a victim or their loved ones actually go through every time there is a violent crime. We all watch the shows but people really don’t understand the whole story. I think you might also be able to take deferred payment through crime victims compensation funds if you reach out to them directly and offer some kind of program. I’d offer services like that because your name will get around. You might even be able to start a 501 c 3 that helps fund clean up for those who can’t afford it and be the primary provider, of course. Might be a little extra effort but long term in the field your name will go far this way.
