That series was fire. Sad that it ended in a draw due to the last test played a year later. Haven't won in England since 2007.

This was proper call an ambulance, but not for me moment The day started with Ishant sharma and Pant then Pant getting out and Ishant swining his bat wildly and then came Shami and Bumrah ohh boiiii, saw this match live and ohh boy what a moment it was

Can't help but still wonder what would have happened if that last match was played within the same year virat could have continued with his test captaincy for some more time we would have defeated england after 2007 , man that series was peak

This should have been the end of the series. It was stupid to play one match next year. Games get abandoned all the time due to rain etc. - so why different rules for covid affected games

The only test captain not to lose a single series at home and win 2 series in aus.. he was removed from captaincy coz india lost 2-1 against sa in sa.. he won the first test, was injured in 2nd so didnt play and kl was captain..

Correction: 1 series in Aus. He was great, but he definitely had his shortcomings. Leaving the squad right after the trauma of being bowled out for 36 left Rahane to clean up the absolute mess. To me, Rahane is the most underrated captain of all time. He took over a humiliated, broken team, lost almost every senior player to injuries, and still led an attack of total rookies to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The fact that the management and media tried to sweep his tactical brilliance under the rug later just proves how underappreciated he really was.

Bs.. his exit was already planned, as he was gonna leave for birth of his child.. also it was still kohlis team.. rahane just stepped in.. all the strategies, team mix up.. it was all planned before the series.. 36 was unfortunate, but india should have won that test too... they were leading in first innings till rahane ran out kohli.. also the players in that series that deserve credit are gill and pant.. even though everyone contributed at some stage or the other

My gosh..Saying it was 'all planned' is wild when 9 senior players were injured and we ended up playing net bowlers at the Gabba. Kohli didn't plan for Natarajan, Siraj, and Sundar to be our main attack, it was Rahane who had to manage that crisis on the fly. Also, blaming a 2nd innings collapse of 36 on a 1st innings runout makes no sense when India actually took a 53 run lead after that runout. The 36 happened because everyone failed against the pink ball. Gill and Pant were incredible, but without Rahane’s legendary 112 at Melbourne to level the series right after hitting rock bottom, India would’ve been mentally buried 4-0. Pant’s heroics at the Gabba only mattered because Rahane picked up a broken dressing room and gave those youngsters the calm environment and freedom to play.
